My son heads to MEPS tomorrow afternoon. I need all the prayers in the world right now. Today we are hosting a cookout for his close friends and family. Tomorrow he leaves. On Monday we watch him take his oath before shipping out. Shortly after we do that I also will be flying out to attend my fathers (his only grandfather alive) funeral. He passed away on Wednesday afternoon after a four week battle after suffering a stroke. Can't be sad for my son since he will not be able to say goodbye to him with his funeral being on Tuesday. Pray that I can get through these next few days.
Just getting through your son leaving is tough enough! So sorry to hear about your dad. Neither is easy to go through. Praying you find peace and strength in the days ahead.
Hi JC-- you may be feeling like your heart is breaking with each beat- First, i'm so sorry for the loss of your father- there are not words that can adequately soothe another through such a difficult time. I only hope that feeling heard will be enough to help you take the next breath. With regards to your son leaving- I cried most days leading up to his departure- even when I believed it was the best thing in the world for HIM- I didn't want to cry at the signing, but of course I did- and you most likely will as well- its OKAY-
those first few days- really until you hear from him beyond the "I've arrived" call will be nerve racking- get support around you- and not the dumb people who say things like "we have to let our little birdies fly" or "its just like when they leave for college"- but people who understand your heart is breaking and that you feel utterly helpless- BUT people who know you will be okay and your son will be okay sooner than later- that's what women here are like- they get it- so write often, ask questions, write your son letters that you can't send yet- and take it one day at a time. 11 weeks ago I thought I would die-- but after a little delay, I am hoping I see my son in under 2 weeks and life is okay again. you will be amazed when you hear from him how much he has changed-and it will give you confidence to hang in there-
JCMOM, I hope that your spirits are better today. You have been through a lot and I will say a prayer for you as you morn the passing of your father. Stay strong and now that God is with you.
Thank you everyone. It truly has been a challenging time for me. I have no one to talk to that gets it. I hated to leave with less than 2 weeks before he left to go be with my father when he was a live. I do not regret it now. Daniel understood. It is amazing how quick the last month went. Now he is spending his 3rd night in Great Lakes and glad that lights will be out in just over an hour.
JCMom, first off I would like to send my Condolences, to you and your Family. Second Welcome to Navy Moms. I can't imagine what you must be going thru. But please take it one day at a time, this first journey may be very Overwhelming, but I need you to stay strong for yourself as well for your Son. I want you to know we will never leave your side and we will guide you thru. If there is anything that I can answer for you or guide you thru please don't hesitate, as you see we all are in this together as one. Many blessings sent your way.
Thank you. He has been gone 15 days. Still no official word of his PIR Date or Mailing Address. Praying our letter arrives tomorrow. This has been the longest 15 days of my life. Found out he is actually in Division 901. I guess he has a duty/extra responsibility to perform during boot camp. Super proud of him. Hoping to have some communication with him soon.
I am so sorry for your loss. My son left the same time as your son and is in the same division. How crazy is that. I did hear from him through his 1st letter that arrived on the 28th. He stated over and over it was THE BEST decision he has ever made. Its an adjustment for us but we are so proud of him as you are of your son. May God speed for you and your family
