May be headed to Norfollk! I need inputs!!

Well it's been a while since I've been on here but I've been so busy with school and I am finally a Senior in college!
After I graduate with my bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Photography along with some Education courses (basically an associates) I plan to finish my degree in Virginia for Education. Along with going to Virginia, My
Sailor is finally done with C school and has been stationed in Norfolk, VA for the next 4 years. And that's why I'm back, not only to update my page, but because I have sooo many questions and concerns.

For the past 2 years now, (about 2 years since he's joined) we've been discussing about a lot of things since I'm in school and he was in school as well (A-school for the longest time and then C-school for another some odd months). Well we've talking about taking the "next step" but at the same time we've been going with the flow depending on where he would be stationed next and when I'm finishing school and what I plan on to do after that, just seeing how things would go and not stress too much about the next step. Now that he will be stationed in Norfolk for the next 4 years and I'm about to finish school and I was already looking at some schools in VA to finish my Education degree, we're thinking about getting married and moving in together. So much has changed within the last few years and I can tell he's ready to make the next step just as I am. I can tell in the way he plans things and I'm always in them now.lol. But as I was saying, it looks like I'll be heading to Norfolk soon with my long time high school sweetheart and I'm pretty
excited but have so many questions and concerns.

I'm looking in areas around Norfolk and Norfolk itself. He mentioned that it was kind of iffy and he wants me in a safe area so when he's on his deployments, which I guess aren't even that long, his longest may be only 3 months but you never know. But he would feel better knowing I’m in a nice area when he's gone. I do have a friend who is married and her Husband is stationed there too. I asked her and she said she lives on a gate # (I can't say the number) base on base housing and I'm not sure about anything about that but I'm looking into it that as we speak. And he's looking as well. But I just wanted some input as to what areas are good and if bas housing was any good because my dad was telling me it's horrible and that he really doesn't want me on there, (He was in the Navy too but that was about over 22 years ago...) but times have changed and I'm not sure if security is an issues or not. I don't I'm slowly looking into the areas but if there's anyone out there or know of anything about the area please let me know. I am always welcome to hear everyone's inputs :D I will try to get on here later tonight but I normally working all day but I didn't have to work at my second job today so that was nice! So I hope I won't be too tired later tonight! I hope everyone is doing well and staying strong. I know I am.

My husband was recently stationed in Norfolk, and I will be moving there this coming Saturday. We aren't doing base housing, we're actually going to be living in Portsmouth. If you get a place in a nice enough neighborhood it's great, but there are some very bad parts to the area. Chesapeake is very nice, and from what I hear some parts of Norfolk is too but there's a lot of bad parts. Add me on facebook if you have one, I sent you a friend request on here and my facebook link is on my profile. I can explain a little more to you about where we're living and hopefully help you out! :)
