I know that you will get your "I'm  a Sailor" call when he passes boot camp and get's ready for graduation.  Don't beat yourself up over it.  I missed my son's I made it call and it went to voice mail, I'm glad I have that to listen to now.

I didn't even get the "I'm here" call instead my son called his girlfriend who then texted me.  I sorta expected that to happen but still it was disappointing not to hear his voice.  He has been gone 10 days now and got the "kid box" but no form letter yet with the address so can't even mail letters yet and of course it will likely be another couple of weeks before I get a letter from him, Just tyring to stay positive and figure no news is good news.. so hang in there.

.. my son was unable to make the initial call. He was so disorganized that he neglected to take a calling card. We didn't hear from him until week 4.. both my husband and I missed that call on our cells phone. My son left me a message expressing his disappointment with not reaching either of us, after three attempts. Yeah, I completely understand how you feel, Pammy26. However like FlowerGrower05 says you will get your "I'm a Sailor" call which will be much longer than the 2 second " I made it" call and you will forget all about how bad you felt previously!.. the time will pass fast. Enjoy PIR and whatever liberty time he is given. Go Navy!
