For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Mom Be Bold

I may clutch a picture of my child
Wander into his room where the memories run wild
Thoughts come with me wherever I go
Prayers often lead my way, you know
My young one has left to be so brave
The hero of my heart, gone to save
At times I want to reach out and hold
But I know his answer, "Mom be bold."
The love of my child is part of me
So strong and good, it will always be
Nurtured in life by a caring heart
This child to me is a work of art
Dear God you know my love is true
I've prayed for my soldier, more I'll do
And to mothers who live their life and I
We'll grow in support, with our flag raised high
Together we'll get through each new day
Becoming great friends, God Bless our way.

Remember why you feel your heart has been ripped from your chest...it's because we've sent it along with them to hold on to during their toughest times.

A week ago today we took our son to meet his recruiter so that he could go to the hotel before going to MEPS the next morning. Today, this speaks to me perfectly.

The tears have gotten less, but missing him has not lessened one single bit. I'm proud of my son and I know that God has great things in his path. His 6 year old sister has his Navy shirt as her pillow case so that she can smell his scent, she carries her Bubba Bear that has a recording of his voice in it and wears Navy whites everywhere. I wear his cross around my neck (he said it was too big to take to boot camp) and I look at his picture on my phone frequently.

Comment by binladyleela ship 09 div 166 on July 8, 2012 at 7:01pm: I definitely feel your pain, but I also know that God has my son under HIS wing. It is because of God I have peace.

My son is in Pensacola, FL in "A" School right now. Although he is far from us, he is in my heart and always on my mind. It is a little easier, now that I can talk to him on a regular basis, but he's not by my side, where he's been 18 1/2 years of his life. My heart misses him, but thank God he is a Godly young man and he loves Jesus!! I am so thankful for that!!

I am still waiting for "the box" Who knew that has mom's one day we would be anxiously waiting for a box that will contain smelly shoes!!!! :) May all of our children have a safe journey.

Comment by Andrea910 on July 10, 2012 at 4:09pm: I am so touched by all of your words and thoughts, and overwhelmed just to write. But finding some sort of comfort in letting down in this way. I have never actually responded on a blog. My oldest son left today for boot camp, and I never even got to say goodbye and my heart is breaking!! I made desperate pleas through emails, texts, and voicemail to reach him but he never responded. About a year ago my oldest son who was going through a difficult time in his life ended up in trouble, which separated us and all of our communication because of it's severity. Needless to say it has led to a divided road with many deep hurts and unspoken words. I have had to hand the situation over to God to handle and hold in his great hands, and to help remind me "I can do all things in Christ that gives me strength" Phil 4:13.

So I pray for my son Jake, and I pray for all of yours to be taken care of and our hearts to bear all the emotion and pain. Thank you for your poem and words.
