Yesterday, I experienced a new level of motherhood. My first born child, my pride and joy, left the nest for boot camp. I knew this day would come, but never in my imagination did i think so soon. It seems like he was born yesterday, he began to walk and talk and loved his momma so much! As he's grown into the fine you man he is, he has become more than my son, but an individual that I'm very close to and proud to call my friend as well. It was very hard to let him go, but I have learned that when you love something or someone, you have to give them their wings and allow them to soar like eagles and eventually they will land again...back home in the nest of the mother :)

I share the same feelings!! It is difficult to let them go, but we have to. Our children have to find their own way in life. Choosing the Navy is the best decision my son has made, and he is so very happy. Please use this site for support and advise from others. It is wonderful!!! Before you know it, the time will be here for him to graduate and you will be attending PIR. Good Luck to you and your SR!!!

Letting them go is one of the toughest things we will ever have to do as a parent.  It is what we raised them to do, but when it gets here, all we want to do is hold them back with us.  Your son has made an honorable, mature decision to do what he thinks best for his future.....congratulations!  My son is in week 7 of Boot camp and I miss him every minute of every day.  It just doesn't get easier, we just learn to deal with this new way of life.  Look for the box in about a week, and the Form letter soon after with his address.  Write him every chance you get.  They thrive on mail.  You'll get a call by the end of week 3, usually on a Thrusday dinner time. I bet you'll already hear changes in him.  You'll soon be planning your trip to PIR.  Our son graduates on the 4th....I'm already dusting off the suitcases!  All the best to you and your son!

My son's things came in a box marked with his name only. Weird. All dirty clothes and cell phone rolled in a ball with sox. Yuck. Weird walking by his empty room. Clean as it is. I miss the mess. Does anyone know which airport is the easiest to fly into to go to the graduation?

ladyhawk, I like that...SON-SHINE :) don't they just make your SOUL shine :) it is hard but it's necessary..it's like when they were babies, we held their hands while they learned to walk but one day we had to let them go to walk on their own... sad but sweet....and mica, i haven't touched my son's room yet, as a matter of fact i was just laying in his bed minutes ago lol..but i will get to it soon, i promise lol..as for airports, i haven't been to illinois ever so i have no clue on that one...tks for your comments and hope we can become friends xoxoxo

oh wow then i don't feel so bad about my son's room lol thanks for the support and encouragement...I really am "ok" and am very proud  of him, would much rather him be where he is than out here on the streets with nothing but trouble looking for him. Theses days our younger generation have it so hard without the military, it's as if there's almost nothing..so i'm very glad he's where he is. Just that he's never been away from momma lol....I love this site because it brings people like you into my path ;) have a great day xoxoxo

Thanks all, He was a neat freak, but the crap in the drawers... WOW LOL. I filled a bin. I only have a two room house so I cleaned up., but I did tell him I was going to before he left. He won't be back for 10 months then home 5 days and off again. So he was fine with it. Weird though to walk passed his room. The cat is spending his days laying on Chad's bed. I think he misses him as much as I do.  Closest Airport anyone?

Thanks,  Have a wonderful day. And YES, SO PROUD OF HIM!!!! so much better than working at Subway.LOL
