ONE WEEK

One week ago today, I woke with tears in my eyes KNOWING I would be taking my first born child, my son, the love of my life, to meet his recruiter to take him to NEW ORLEANS to go to boot camp on the 21st. I cried all day long that day. TODAY is a new day. I am so thankful for this site and for God giving me peace knowing this is all part of His plan for my son. He knew the plans He made for him even before he was born and in that I find comfort and peace. I taught my son right from wrong, took… Continue

30 SECONDS

Ever sit in the dark with so much on your mind that if you had to write it all down  you  wouldn't know where to start? Well, that's where I am today. I woke up at 5 a.m. and decided to get out of bed because my mind wouldn't let me go back to sleep. "I wonder what he's doing right now? Did he have to eat breakfast in one minute,? What time did he go to sleep last night? Did he sleep good? When will I get the letter? Wonder what he looks like already? Is he ok??" The lists of questions that… Continue

The BOX

I came home from work today like any other day...went through the garage door, went out the front door to let the dog out and there it sat! On my step....the BOX.....I picked it up, looked at it, seen where it was from...turned it upside down, recognized the penmanship on the bottom of the box...my son's handwriting....his name on the box....OMG do i open it? Can I do it? I sat down on the porch swing and looked at it...will it smell like him? Will it make me cry? Will I be any use the rest of… Continue

NOW THE WAIT.....

Well, he's been gone for 69 hours, which is almost 3 days lol I was ok yesterday but today I'm not so sure yet. I know he's ok but am I? He called when the plane landed around 8 pm. He forgot the weather was so different from here to there (Louisiana to Great Lakes) and got off the plane in shorts! The temp when he left was in the 70s and when he landed it was in the 20's lol. MY POOR BABY!! Well, anyway, he's not a baby anymore and I am learning this. I have come to the conclusion he will… Continue

MY FIRST BIRD LEAVES THE NEST

Yesterday, I experienced a new level of motherhood. My first born child, my pride and joy, left the nest for boot camp. I knew this day would come, but never in my imagination did i think so soon. It seems like he was born yesterday, he began to walk and talk and loved his momma so much! As he's grown into the fine you man he is, he has become more than my son, but an individual that I'm very close to and proud to call my friend as well. It was very hard to let him go, but I have learned that… Continue
