My daughter left on Dec 8th for bootcamp. I got her first actual letter on Dec 24th. You would have thought I had won the lottery! I was so relieved and excited. From there on out I got at least 2 letters a week and my mailman always delivered them on Wednesdays. She was only allowed to write on Sundays up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago. She actually graduated this past Friday the 5th. It was an awesome experience. She actually loved bootcamp. She was the RPOC when she graduated. She leaves for a-school next Wed. I'm sure you'll hear from him soon. The first phone call is also a big relief and it wasn't until like the 3rd week in January when that happened. God Bless you and your son.

My son also left on February 2nd --- and I can totally relate to what you're feeling. I miss him so much it's almost like a physical pain --- and I am also wondering what is he doing, how does he feel --- etc. etc. I am a single mom and he is my only child -- so now it's just me and my dog :( I haven't gotten his box yet or his address so i can write him -- hope that comes soon. Stay strong and know that time will heal what you're feeling right now. It's a transition period -- and I bet the Navy will be great for your child !!! :)

Thanks Linda. The RPOC is the Recruit Chief Petty Office. She was picked to do that job by one of the RDC (commanding officers). She got to carry the sword (Cutlass) at graduation. She was in charge of her division when the Commanding officers were not there. She loved it.
