My son left for boot camp on Monday June 6th!!

My only son left for boot camp this past Monday and I know I will see him in a couple of months, and I am very proud of what he has chosen to do but I can't seem to stop crying!! I feel like a crybaby and my husband keeps telling me it will get better. Does anyone know when it will get better?

My son leaves in August and some days, I bawl like a baby already. I love that we all are here, feeling these things together. It does help knowing we are not alone in this. Best wishes.

My son shipped out of Oklahoma City on the 7th and I talked to him all the way up until he connected up with the Navy as the plane touched down in Chicago.  I could hear the excitement in his voice and I knew all was going to be alright.  He had about one month to get ready for boot camp and I cried about once a week and tried not thinking about him leaving.  It's very tough to, but it was the right decision for him to make.  I too thought I was being overly sensitive, so I'm glad I found this blog.

clynhood, was your son sworn in at the White Sox game on Tuesday, June 7th, in Chicago?  I was there and took pictures, my son was sworn in that night.  Let me know I'll send you pictures.

No he was not with that group.  The White Sox game...way cool.  I'm not sure when he is getting sworn in or even if he already has. I just received "The box" today, with his cloths in it.  Now I wait until I receive a letter....  I sure hope it's soon.

How do you know when they get sworn in? My son arrived on Monday, June 6th.  I received "I made it call" Monday night.  Also, when do they start the actually boot camp.  I thought my son said that he would have about a week of test before it started.

Thanks...I guess I should have asked more questions before he left.  I guess I was in denial that he was actually going to leave...  Thanks for the info.  This makes me feel better knowing I have somewhere to go to ask questions.

Thanks for the comments they are really helping to hear so many other moms are going through the same as me. I got to see him sworn in at meps before he left and he stood so proud. I am happy I found this site and to hear from other moms and what their sons have gone through, it really helps to hear what my son should be going through in bootcamp. Again Thank You!
