I received the letter today and it did make me feel alittle better just reading his small comment!! He said he is doing good so far and that he loved us with a smile face. I know that may seem small but to me it meant the world!!

I got mine too.... He sounded good  said he was ready to start the fun stuff.  He address the letter to his little sister (who is 8) Made her day. She was having hard time dealing with him leaving too.  My son is ship 04 div 817 PIR Aug 5.

Oh my gosh....I am sooo nervous.  Can you please explain to me what the "form letter" is.  My daughter leaves tomorrow to take her test and then I guess the next step is leaving for BC.  As I'm sure you can tell I am a VERY new Navy Mom.......I guess there is a first time for everything.  If anyone could help guide me through the next couple of steps??

Thank you all for your comments, its nice to see what stages parents are at. Anyone's child on Ship 11 , Div. 238?? My daughter just shipped out to boot camp on June 1st, 2011. Last week I received the FedEx box of her items, nearly broke my heart, then a few days later we got the form letter w/graduation info, etc.... Ano of course the three scribbled sentences on the bottom by my daughter. I must say it was super exciting, yet a let down since I had thought it was her first letter home. :-(

Needless to say it was all a feeling of relief, knowing she was safe and able to say hi and we now had her mailing address. Thank you to whomever posted the area code to watch for, this is from Great Lakes right?? I'm at the stage of what if I miss her phone call because I don't recognize the incoming number and whatnot...it's an un easy feeling as we all know. It helps to have this forum for parents/family so thank you all for your comments, it does help. My daughter should be around week three now and still waiting on an actual letter from her and wondering about the "phone call", hopefully it will be soon!
