do they receive mail everyday or do they hold it and only hand out on certain days

Comment by TexasMomof2 on December 19, 2010 at 11:55pm

When he said it's hard to write - he means literally.......they don't give them time.  They are moving them through very quickly so don't worry thinking it was an emotional thing.....he probably wrote that on there to explain why he didn't write more so you wouldn't wonder......  Just stick with this site, ask questions and know that we all understand  :o)

In the beginning they hold their mail, usually.  Of course, all RDC's are different but for the most part, I've seen it being held for about the 3rd week......BUTTTTT once they start receiving it, they get it daily.  Very important you write every day if you can.

AGAIN they can not hold mail .......you have to remember there are 700 to 800 recruits each week that is alot mail to hand out. until your recuit is signed a ship the mail is waiting on them.sometimes your recruit will be moved to another ship and the mail room doesnt get that infor. so mail is setting waiting. they do not open and hold mail. mail is very slow the frist few weeks. there is about 9000 to 10000 recruits every month. that alot of mail.

Comment by TexasMomof2 on December 20, 2010 at 12:36pm

Well, that's better to think that it's cuz it's behind trying to catch up with them.......I've read on here before that the mail is held but I do think that's pretty cruel so I like your posting.  All I know is my son left on July 5th.  I received his address on July 11th.  His birthday was July 17th and he wrote me on that day and didn't get mail.  Others did and it was very sad for me cuz the entire family had INUNDATED him with cards/letters the day we got his address.....we had it all saved up.  He said it was the following week when it started trickling in....and then he was delighted cuz he had a ton... Regardless point being, SEND LOTS OF MAIL, they need it.  :o)
