My son just left for BC on Wednesday, I really wish I would of found this site sooner! My heart is weighing heavy with all kinds of emotions right now. I just have my one son and although I'm so proud of him, I'm so sad to have seen him go! I'm a kind of a control freak and a huge planner so the not knowing is driving me crazy already! Lol! I'm hoping to connect with other moms to help relate.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left that day and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

(Group names within this comment are clickable links. To join a group, click on the group name and after the group page opens, click on "+ Join..." in the upper right.)

Hi Shellbell602.....I also have one son and he has been in since Dec 2011.  Like you, I am a planner and control freak.  I can tell you it has been an adjustment and I am finally getting used to the fact that I am NOT in control here.  It is very difficult to make plans as something is always changing.  I am doing better just going with the flow.  And when he is able to come home to visit, I let him take the lead on what he wants to do and who he wants to see.  I am fortunate though because my son is stationed 4 hours away from where we live.  He does get to come home a little more often then most.  Stay plugged in to this site.  It has helped me get through it all.  Best of luck!

RAYA, I see you have joined DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April; I invite you to also join the other groups and check out the other infromation I mentioned in my first comment above.

I am sure I qualify as a control freak as well. My son wrote me from Officer Candidate School (Boot Camp for officers), "Mom, if you don't hear from me don't go crazy. It doesn't mean I am not doing well. It just means I can't call you. Please do not contact anyone here on the base to inquire about me (if you value my life). Furthermore, do not, I repeat DO NOT contact our US House of Representative, US Senator, State Rep or State Senator. I mean it."

It is so nice to know that I'm not crazy and the only mom feeling this way :)
