For some reason everything I saw on tv or head on the radio today brought tears to my eyes.  It's hitting me hard today that my last child is leaving in just a few short months and unlike going to college or just moving in with friends as my other 2 children did, this child won't be available to me to check in with and talk about his day.  I know this is just a bad day and tomorrow will be different and to be honest I'm the sappy girl who cries at all halmark commercials, chick flicks and love stories and yes even some songs. But wow! many more days like this and I'll be taking out a bank loan to cover the cost of all the tissue...

I am sitting here in the living room at 11:51 p.m. with the alarm clock set for 5 a.m. I am alone and unable to stop crying. My youngest is in Great Lakes for a week and two days now. My only other child came home from his Army National Guard deployment to Afghanistan in August, but he's living on his own now. It seems that all I do is power through my days waiting to hear from my Navy son, knowing that after his training, I don't get him back! And no letter yet!!!

You hang in there, too, Sherri. I just keep reflecting on those first days...holding that tiny baby. How did we get here? It is hard to reconcile pride with loss. We'll get through this, though. Hang tough!

Zanga mom and Sherri- see my comment under "MY DAUGHTER JUST LEFT" blog. I was in both of your shoes one year ago. It WILL get better...I promise!!!

thank you to all who commented. I feel terrible talking about how sad I am when my son is still here with me and others that are missing their loved ones who are either at boot camp now or already serving and protecting us all. I am keeping up a good front and will pray for each and everyone of our loved ones.

Sherri- your very welcome. When my son was in bc I was glued to this website the entire 8 weeks. You will be amazed at what the Navy and RTC can do in 8-9 weeks! I hope your planning on attending PIR. It was amazing, and I'm so glad I didn't miss it. I accepted your friend request, thanks for asking!

None of you need to feel bad about feeling sad. We have all been in your shoes. It might have been 1, 5 or 15 years ago, but like you and your child, we have all started at the beginning.

N4M was my lifeline as I have no military background at all. The only "stupid" questions are the ones not being asked, IMHO!! :-)
