Ok, here I am again a worry wart....
Questions...I wrote my son several letters and sent them out.
My son and I have a thing about qouting Disney movies, We try and guess what Disney movie the qoute came from.
Just one of the silly things we do. On one of his envelopes I want to put some Disney stamps on them just because I know he will get a big smile on his face when he see's them. The mother in me worries that this is to juvenile and this might bring attention to him. Should I just stick with the american flag stamps? perhaps i am thinking to much into it. whewwww, this is harder than I thought it was gonna be...Help!!! Over protective Mom having Overprotective thoughts.. : )
I'm not sure if anyone has posted a reply to your post but, if you read the information posted on this site regarding letter writing you will soon learn to not place anything on the outside of the envelopes. He will be disciplined for this. I suggest you reserve those mommy/son moments for the body of your letters instead. BTW... you got this. This is not hard this is man making time! This is good stuff for our children! Really good stuff! Rejoice in the knowledge that you did a great job raising your son and that you have a good close relationship with him. Those things will never go away but, the child is becoming a man... This is his time! This is his journey! Our jobs as parents is to cheer them on, not necessarily thinking of how it affects us but rather what it is doing to them. Their transformation. How this man making goodness will positively work in their future... You got this. Relax a little. Enjoy this time with other family members, husband etc. Enjoy your day! And stop having overprotective thoughts! He's got this and so do you! Cheers!
Thank you kmills8825...
I did read the information regarding letter writing. and I am aware of the do's and dont's. I was refering to the letter that will be delivered to him, My hope is that the Navy does not take the humorous side out of him. My thoughts were to send him some happy memories during a time of intensified challenges. for example the stamp I put on my letter I sent him states: HA, HA HA I LAUGH IN THE FACE OF DANGER--THE LION KING
My thought was it might bring attention to him because it is a cartoon stamp. You are right though I do need to relax. I know he's got this. Thank you, I just wanted to know some other thoughts on this.
Got it! Disney postage stamps! Sorry, I misunderstood what you were referring to... In that case why not? Humor is a good thing! And I'm sure he will indeed get a kick out of it! Finally, the son you helped get to this point will always be there. You've done a great job. Navy command are people too! Yes, they are there to do a job but, they too have a sense of humor! I would imagine they don't show that side of them in the first several weeks but towards the end, when you son has rocked it he will see some aspect of their "other" traits... Good luck to you during the next several weeks. Let me know when you son goes to PIR so I can go and watch the feed...
I have sent my son several letters with Harry Potter postage stamps because that is our mom/son thing, ever since he was a little boy. Nothing was made of this when he received the letters. I'm sure those stamps will bring a big smile to your son's face when he gets them :)
