Hi Queen Jackie, I'm Katrina and I'm pretty new here also. This is a great site but I'm also having a difficult time navagating around it. I tend to head for the chat. Poeple jump in and out at any time and I've recieved some good info from some of the women. We can learn to navigate this together.
About your son, he'll be fine! You must be feeling very overwhelmed, proud, sad, sacred and every emotion in between. You are normal! You'll be fine too. Do you have any specific info you are looking for, or just support from those who also stand in your shoes?
Let me know if I can help, just look me up and send me a message, I'm the only Katrina (at the moment). Good luck, you are not alone!
Hi Jackie,
My son leaves for boot camp on Jan. 10. I couldn't be prouder. I am relatively new to the sight also. So far, I just picked a couple of groups and have been following them. I am learning a lot from other people's comments.
You guys have all been so wonderful! Thanks for the big huge welcomes! Chris will have been in dep for almost a year before he goes...he started out signed up for one thing (gunnars mate), then tried out for the air-rescue swimmer and was chosen but then failed two physical agilities so back to the drawing board - and is now going to be on a sub as a sonar tech....we have changed start dates three times now! I was getting really frustrated and angry at the recruiters because they seemed to not give much information and didn't seem to try to find out stuff for us. I do understand now that they were probably giving as much information as they were getting. I was just irritated because I felt that a year is too long to be waiting....especially when there is a newer girlfriend involved. Anyway, I told Chris...enough changing - you are staying with this!!!! LOL!
Denise, I have appreciated many of your comments. I either relate well, get great information, or both. Thanks!
Hi Queen Jackie! I am right there with you! My son goes to boot camp on December 15 and it is overwhelming. Just know that you are not alone. You did the best thing by coming to this website. You will meet the neatest people here! If you need someone to talk to, just send me an email!
Diane
