We were told that when a recruit has A-school he has to go immediately from graduation ceremonies and register for A-school and it may take up to 5 hrs before he have any liberty.
Does anyone know anything about this. I see that they might be able to get the entire weekend off. We are flying from Texas so that would be great. I guess you dont know any of this until the day of graduation or do you?
Also, how long is it from the time they get their caps until graduation-I assume(a week) We need at least a week to get air line tickets that we can afford if not we will have to drive from Texas since the tickets almost double in price
Any info would be appreciated
.
He will know before boot camp ends if he is grad and go or not, and he can send you the information. If his school is in Great Lakes, and he is grad and go, he does have to go and check in that day before liberty. If he is not grad and go, he will be spending the night on the boot camp side and will have strictly enforced curfews.
What is his rate? Sounds like you're sure his school is in Glakes.
And no, now way for us to know if he will be gng this early.
That makes it kind of difficult to get airline tickets at an affordable price without at least a weeks notice
And then again, if you buy the tickets for anticipated date of PIR the it cost $150 to change the date-kind of a catch 22
It is a catch 22, the Navy recommend buying refundable tickets but the airlines really gouge you for a refundable ticket so the option is crossing your fingers and hoping for the best or taking a chance on paying $150 fee to change tickets.
Most families hope for the best and in most cases it works out. Hoping yours will as well.
