Hi Rocky,  I found solace in writing.  Writing my son often and everyday made me feel like he was close; like we were talking.  The letters mean so much to the recruits that it made perfect sense to write, write and write some more.  It has been very therapeutic.  I hope are able to write to yours.  I am praying for you.

Hi Rocky, I know what you are going through as my son also left on the 24th.  I had the 32 sec call the first night to let us know that he was there, then one call on the 12 November, asking for some information and to let me know that they were supposed to be able to call Sunday, 19 Nov (that didn't happen).  Since those calls I received 2 letters one dated 11 Nov and 12 Nov.  The calls he seemed upbeat but the letters he was having a hard time.  Like others have said I write him every day.  Sometimes I know I repeat what I wrote day by day but as in life that was common.  During his call on 12 Nov he asked if I really HAD to write every day and I said "yep" helps ME get through this time.  In his letters he said that he really appreciated the letters and they helped HIM get through it.  It is hard. . .  with the holidays coming I will miss him.  It has been really hard as the last letter was a little down and I know that they are (or have) gone through 'hell' week and I am hoping that he made it through.  I know that he is strong and that he will make it through just for the sole sake that I made it through but it is still hard not knowing how he is doing.  Hang in there and as I told him today he has made it 28 days with only 25 left.  He should be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on this, his first phase of training.

Hope you will be at PIR and will get to meet you at the Meet and Greet!!!

Hello Northern Irish,

your comments made me feel a little better, the only letter i received was post dated on 11/6, he did not sound good at all, the letter was brief, because he said he had no time. On today's letter I am also letting him know that he is almost done just as you have. I also find myself repeating the same words, and he is probably saying the same thing. do you have to write everyday,  I pray for him every time he pops into my head.  I will continue to write, and thank you so much for telling about your situation, and yes they are strong and they will get through it. I hope do get to see you, so that i can Thank you personally.  We have the same PIR date so far 12/15/2017,  I really appreciate all the comments and support from all of these wonderful courageous  Navy moms.  :)
