My baby shipped out yesterday! What an experience! I went to the same hotel, stayed in a room down the hall. I took her out to eat the night before. The next morning, I went to the MEPS station and hung around while she went through the processing then I was able to record the 'swearing in'. Then, being the clingy mom I am, I couldn't stop there. I went to the airport and watched her go through security. I know that probably made it worse on me, well, I KNOW it did, but I just had to see her as long as I could. I got THE phone call later last night. It seemed so rehearsed, but at least I got to hear her voice, and we did get to tell each other that we love each other. I miss her terribly already! I know she is growing up and I need to let her go, but it doesn't make it any easier. She seemed to be so brave, but I know she was scared. She is just so little. I am so proud of her.

I know exactly how you feel. It does get a little better. My daughter left Dec 8th for bootcamp. I went to MEPS and watched her swear in, we got to eat lunch with her and the hardest part was watching that bus leave with her on it. I cried all the way home and on and off that night. I had my moments through out the entire bootcamp process. She graduated from bootcamp on Feb 5th. It was the proudest moment of my life. Very emotional weekend. It does get better, promise. She is now in A-school and I have been able to talk to her almost everyday. She now has her cell phone and a laptop so she is more in touch with the world. Remmeber that it does take about 3 weeks to get your first real letter from them once they leave. I got my first real letter on Dec 24th. You would have thought I won the lottery I was so happy! Remember to write them and encourage them. Once they make it through bootcamp they can make it through anything. God be with you and your daughter.

Feel your pain! Amanda left Feb 15th. Got "The" call Feb 16th that she made it there and will have no contact for a few weeks. Sad week. Then the box! Oh and the form letter. I am still waiting for the get better part! You are not alone.
