For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Sooner than I expected....The Box
As I was driving down my street, I saw the Fed Ex truck parked in front of my house.....hmmmmm what did my husband order? Did I forget that I had ordered something (fuzzy brain still, so possible)? It was The Box. Today is Thursday, he shipped on Tuesday. I wasn't expecting it so soon.
Oddly, it comforted me. I've read of others who cried when theirs arrived. It was nice to see his handwriting on the outside of the box. And it made me chuckle to see there were no shoes inside. He hated those shoes. In fact, when he left with his recruiter on Monday, he was wearing his flip flops. Minutes later, they pulled back in the driveway and he had to change shoes and put on his OLD running shoes and socks. He told me his recruiter told him he should walk in and pretend to be upset and crying and tell me he didn't think he could go through with it!!!
Now my hopes are up for the form letter just as quickly.....

Yes, from SE Wisconsin...only about 1 1/2 hour away from GL. @Katesmom....did your recruit (daughter??) ship out this week also? You're right about the "reality" statement.
