He left us on Monday evening, flew out on Tuesday afternoon and on Friday we received "the box". I was expecting emotional but found myself smiling. Yep, those are his clothes, yep, the right shoes, hmmm smells minty...gum, there's his phone and for my son who can't stand the idea of not brushing his teeth 2+ times a day...disposable tooth brushes! I actually enjoyed getting the box : ) I'm even chuckling while re-reading this.

I will tell you I felt the same way, it was not as bad getting the box as I thought. Although being on N4M helped knowing it was coming and what would be inside. One mom called it kid in a box....LOL I smiled as well as I was pulling his waded up clothes from the box and thinking probably the last time that will happen with his clothes. I was right, the weekend after PIR he taught his sister and I how to fold the Navy way and told us that he expected his clothes at home to be folded that way when he visits. He also was constantly concerned about how his uniform was hanging or if his gig line was correct. I loved the irony from my son who never put his clothes away or looked constantly wrinkled from head to toe. I am glad it made you happy you obviously have a great attitude about your son being in the Navy......Congrats from another Proud Navy mom!!!

I just got my son's box today..and expected a one sentence note or ANYTHING...but there was nothing in the box or written in the box, etc. I am crying my eyes out as I miss him too. ALL of him..even his annoying habits..lmao. I am on day 4. My heart is with you on your day 11.
