Well Dec. 7th is coming up fast....that is when my son leaves for boot camp. Mixed emotions for sure but the number one emotion is pride...in him and for him. His whole new life is in front of him and I am excited for him but at the same time I am sad because he will be gone...for good. He was gone for a year in college but he came home almost every weekend so it was no big deal.Well this is a big deal and he won't be home almost every weekend so mama is a little freaked out. I know he will be ok and I have to remember he is 20 not 10 and he is a big boy and will be just fine. Maybe it is so hard because as he grows up so do I ...getting older as he does. I am only 44 but gosh my 30's seemed to fly by now looking back. I wish I would have enjoyed him just a little more like in the backyard in the pool when he would beg me to throw him or chase him and I just wanted to relax and float. Just 1 example of the little things..they grow up so fast. I am just going to enjoy the next several days and not think about it...it is not goodbye just see ya later...I keep telling myself!!!
My son leaves Dec 7th as well! We are enjoying every last second that he is home! The tree has been up since Oct 21st, presents are wrapped and under the tree and we are having Christmas on this Thursday, hence the new name "Christgiving"! He is 23 and has spent 4 years in college with a degree; however, not a technical degree and not a GPA of 3.6 or higher which didnt make him highly competitive for OCS! So he enlisted so as not to waste a lot of time and energy and get nowhere! I know he will be very happy and will be taken care of, but I will miss him terribly!
