Dear MY3SONS,
I assume you have encountered a disagreeable episode in one of your groups. I don't see any discussion posted currently which indicate an religious bashing. If it happens in one of your groups, then contact the group creator or admin. If the creator of the group is long-gone and there are no admins, then contact Colleen, the Navy For Moms admin. There are a number of Christian based groups on this side and they are very active (Prayer Wall and Christian Chat) with many members who would welcome your participation. To the best of my recollection, we don't have many groups based on other religions. But all groups should be welcomed on this site.
My opinion.
We are all Americans - don't care where you came from, what you believe - remember where you are and the country to which you owe allegiance.
I don't believe we should be bashing anyone based on religion, race, gender, gay/straight, appearance, ethnicity. It is hard enough to sustain a livelihood as it is.
BunkerQB.
Note: I am being sincere. I expect the same from all responders. All responses will be published. Please do not use foul language.
Lemonelemphant, I, too, thank God every day - and part of my prayers when my Sailors are gone is to ask God to keep them safe, but if that is not His will, then to give me the strength to get through it.
I hope that any conflict over differing religious views are able to be resolved. I don't interpret the rules for the site to mean that people can't express their faith (no matter who they worship or how they do it). I took it to mean I can say thanks to God, but I have no right to scoff at anyone who says thanks to Allah, or who says they don't believe in any gods.
I sincerely hope it's resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. It would be pretty ironic and sad that we all have loved ones who fight for the constitution, including the right to our religious beliefs, then attack each other for using that right :-(
I think because we are all not face to face, that things get lost in interpretation as print on the screen. This flares up now and then and dies down.
We're all good people. It will work out.
Thanks SWM. I still prefer to keep it private because there's always someone who thinks an expression of pagan faith is an attack on their beliefs and I simply don't care to deal with it. I tend to not share with my atheist friends either. Life goes on.
I just felt she was mocking God, thru her undercover blog "Theological Aside",, why even post something like that here, knowing it would get a rise out of me and others. Why even go there? And yes, I did report her!!!!
Yes, I thought we were in this together,, without getting one's religion or non-religion in the middle, I respect others beliefs and they respect mine. I am not here to judge, and why go out and post sacastic blog like that, SO unneccessary. Is all I'm saying!
this is not the first time this is happened with her, last year made a remark on what I posted, because I had written" Thank God Osama Bin Laden is over! " Whats wrong with that! I try super hard to avoid her here, and not blog wheres she at, but, this one really caught my attention. So I hope you can delete your post and I will delete mine and closing the book on this one, so we can go on and get back to whats really important here! Our Kids & Family Members serving.
I read the "Theological Aside" blog, thought it made no sense and immediately dismissed it. Of course, I often appreciate an off kilter sense of humor - I thought Lady Hamilton was trying to be funny, not trying to get a rise out of anyone. But I see now how MY3Sons could be offended by the blog. I was raised a Christian but I am a pragmatist. My husband and I do not attend church on a regular basis. I pray whenever the occasion calls for it or when someone express a need for a prayer. I do believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking. Do I think God (the God) has a better/different plan for a recruit (or sailor) who has been separated from the Navy? I don't. I think the recruit/sailor and the families better come up with Plan B. My vision of God is a divine being too busy creating universes, planets, comets, galaxies to think about the little humanoids down here on earth. And if he/she is thinking about us - he'd probably say - get off your rears and do something productive. I gave you people a brain the ability to make decisions - so use it. For more devout Christian who like to quote the scripture - it's fine. It gives Christianity meaning. It gives their believe a center. It's their right. We should just respect that. We all need to be more sensitive and respectful to each others core values, believe system and individual foibles.
There are a few things that will get a rise out of me. The politically correct brigade can drive anyone nuts.
MY3SONS, I am glad you are here.
correction - their belief, belief system. my bad.
MY3SONS, why not leave our blogs up? This way, it's clear that we have visited this subject, talked about it and need not visit it again. It's an important discussion - at least to me.
I was typing my message while you were posting yours. LOL.
I am sick. I thought it was an asthmatic reaction to being near a big wood burning stove but now I am thinking it is more the flu. If I sound incoherent ......................
I think it is important to have "disagreeble" topics and discussions, not simply read happy ooey-gooey stuff which warms our fuzzy feelings. Only by engaging in thinking outside our boundaries do we grow stronger in our own thinking and convictions.
BQB, I hope your breathing clears up quickly. Tea and honey might help. Hugs.
BunkerQB, Thank you for your support,, but I this hit the defensive button, Maybe the blogger was having a bad day, and had to blame someone,,,I've cooled down a bit, and will pray for her instead for better days. And, I wanted to delete this post, when she removed hers,, didnt want to scare any new moms away, thinking we were back in high school or something. or girls locker room, LOL jk :)
I read the blog too- and it hit a nerve- my future sailor leaves tuesday - I took it as her mocking some new moms- it could be lines i might find myself saying shortly....I have read other things from Emma, some good some I was wow on. I too try to steer clear from her
