My son has been gone for 1 week today. The time really has gone fast. I write to him everyday and I try to update him on as many things as possible. His friends I’ve seen. His dogs. Me and my work. The family. The weather. Football scores. I write a Bible verse either at the beginning or end of every single letter. I printed some pictures today, including one of his great grandfather who was a chef in the Navy during WWII, wearing his Blues. My son looks so much like him! Keeping my head up. Letting myself feel the feelings as they come. Trying to wait patiently for the form letter so I can mail these, and so I will know his PIR info. Thanks to all who share positive messages and offer assistance to us newbies. I appreciate you all!

Hi NavyMom9519 - it's possible you could be looking at a 11/1/19 PIR (but it could change a week either way).  Your letter should arrive in about 9-14 business days - in the meantime, keep writing!  Be sure to # your letters in the corner so your son knows what order to open them in. Sounds like you are doing well - and remember, no news is good news!

Hello Everyone, my son swore in 9/12. I am a proud Momma! He's only been gone for a few days but miss him to pieces. Can't wait to receive his letters.

Hi Tricia! And welcome. I’m on day 10 now and really feel like it’s gone quickly. I miss him so much! I try not to torture myself with the “I wonder what he’s going through” every day. That is so hard on us Moms! I write to him and keep on BELIEVING that God has him in His embrace and that in the end he will have done something great. Hoping to hear from him soon!

Hi! My daughter arrived same as NavyMom9519. I miss her lots, and have been writing letters. I always date my letters, but the numbering is prob faster for her. Thanks for the tip! I have started compulsively checking the mailbox for her form letter even though I know no news is good news! I also started taking pictures of treasured places and people so I can start including them in my letters. Thank you everyone for the support on here. My husband just doesn't understand a mother's heart for her kids, even though I know he misses her tons too! God bless you all!
