Just talked to Michaels Rec. looks like I can take him to Little Rock Ar. for his swearing in at there office in August. I just have to have him at the hotel at the time requested. My good friend Cheryl and my sons best friend Matthew will be going with us and my younger son will also be there. We are all leaving early so we can do some things together as a family looks like were hitting the zoo, Imax and Outback Steak House (my kid loves his meat lol). We can even stay at the same hotel but Michael cant stay in the same room so Im thinking that might be harder so debating on going to a different hotel not sure yet. Then we will meet him at the office for his swearing in and pics of the occassion. Then the crying begins Im not sure if were saying our goodbyes there or following him to the airport (I cant take him to the airport he has to ride with the other guys) I think I will let him make that decision on what he is most comfortable with personally I dont think he wants to see me upset . I am so happy my friend is going with me she is planning on driving back home to Harrison Arkansas 4hrs so incase (when) I loose it we wont crash.   Will probably his chic filet for some comfort food. These months are going so fast I dont know what to do. My son graduates in 7 weeks from high school then the count down begins when he leaves for GL.  I have so many fears gong through my mind all I can do is hold to everything I learned when I was an Army Brat for all those years when my dad was deployed and gone all the time.

My so just left on Thur. It was very hard for him. He was extreamly emotional for more then 2hrs at dinner. Thank God we were in a very private area at Red Lobster or he would have been horrified. Red Lobster was really great with us. We told them my son was leaving for boot camp and would it be ok if we stayed for a while. They were great we stayed for 4 1/2 hrs away from all the other customers. We were not allowed to see him sworn in the next day because the base was in lock down. His recruiter said we could go to the airport instead. My son decided the last minute that he could not handel us going to the airport. He texed us when he got to the airport and said no one wanted their families there. It was just to hard to say goodby!

Don't be alarmed if your future sailor feels this way! It was a total shock to my son. He is so excited for SEAL training to begin. He has been training for the last 10 months in the DEP. He never thought it would be so hard to leave his family. God Bless you all.

thank you myty it makes me feel better that other sailors feel that way about families being at the airport we have done everything together and he has always asked my opinion on things it is going to be so tough knowing i wont be able to guide him when he leaves. I guess raising 2 boys as a single mom made me feel so many roles in life that its going to be hard to give up some of them

It was so hard not going to the airport. He was all set for us to come and when he made the decision for us not to my heart broke in two but I had to be strong for him and honor his wishes. One thing I did not tell you was he would not let us walk him into the hotel either. We said our goodbys in the parking lot because he was to chocked up and he did not want the other guys to see him like that. So maybe you might want to stay at another hotel. Just a suggestion. I never in a million years would have thought my son would have reacted the way he did. God bless you raising 2 boys on your own. Thats not a easy task! I have two boys as well but praise god I had a husband to help. Don't know how I would have done it alone so kudos to you!

thank you for that i think being an Army brat helped in being able to do it my dad is my rock and i respected him everystep of the way and understoon the military ways and not to mention my dad didnt have sons so i was the tomboy from get go that helps too. i always said i could never raise a girl haha. I go everywhere hiking, wall climbing, canoeing, boy scouts all the way. haha  I spoke with my friend and she agrees a different hotel would be easier on Michael I cant believe it is a little over 4 months away it is going to quick.

This military life is all new to me. My dad was in the Air Force for 4 years but that was before i was born. At least you know a little of what to expect i guess. For right now hug him and kiss him and love him as much as you can because 4 months will be here before you know it. Gods blessings to you and your boys!

Good Morning, Tammy Jo. It's been a while since I've been in touch so I had to go through all your blogs to catch up.  I see that Michael is leaving for BC in August. Did he take the retest or just go in on his original score? Last I heard he was going to retake the test in June. Josh is training at least once a month with the Seal coordinator for our area. As of right now, he is still scheduled to ship out on July 3rd. His best friend passed his test and signed on as a machinist mate. His ship date is 9/11. Right now, I'm getting things ready for their graduation/going away party while he is concentrating on Prom and work. I agree the months are flying by and I sometimes wonder how I will get it all done in time. I'm not the most organized person in the world lol.  I'm glad you will have a good friend to go with you when he ships out. Keep in touch and take care.
