Hello, my child is currently in boot camp and I have spoken to him twice (three including the "I arrived okay" call) and both my husband, daughter, and I have recieved a letter from him. The first call he seemed a bit down as well as his letters stating the PT part is what he expected and is fine with but the emotional part is really hard for him my SR has only been away and not seen us for 3 days but we still spoke with him every night. I have been strong around my SR and he has only seen me cry once (when he swore in and boarded the shuttle). Although I have been strong around him I have been an emotional mess since the day he told us he was joining the Navy (cried the whole weekend). I thought I was getting stronger but during his last call he informed us that he had his two lower wisdom teeth pulled and was a bit swollen. My worries are I have been reading that they only have one day of recovery and then they have to go back to training. I know everyone is different as to how their bodies react to such trauma of having your teeth pulled and was wondering if someone doesnt completly heal do they still make them go back to their daily routine? When I had mine pulled on the first set it took two days for me to heal and feel better however on the second set I was eating solid food by the end of the day. However, my husband was different when he had his pulled he took about 4 days to feel a bit better and open his mouth wide enought to eat solid food. I felt so helpless as a mother and cried and once again started feeling down and sad. Please calm a worried mom's nervous down has anyone's SR been through this?
Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. This has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through but thanks to God, family, friends, and all you Navy Moms I know I'm not alone and my pain, fear, loneliness, anxiety, excitement, happiness, and being worried everyday is felt by many. I received what my son said was the final call on Thursday he said next call will be about the PIR. That made me really sad. But we still have his letters and it is getting closer and closer to his PIR which means I will be holding him once again. My son did tell me during that call that he got a bump around his extracted area and is now on antibiotics am praying for him to heal properly and for the emotional strength to get him through this. I am very proud of my SR and although his phone calls and letters have been a bit sad (at least my letters, dad's and sister's letters are a bit more uplifting) I already see how mature and grown up he is becoming. Thank you all once again.
