My youngest son left for boot training camp on Feb 11. I got the phone call he was there. I missed the second phone call which made me so upset. I had been waiting for that phone call that I thought was coming to my cell phone but he called the house phone while I was out. He rarely called the house before he left. I think he did not know my nor his dad cell by heart. I wrote him and told him to call my cell only if he gets a chance to call again. I have wrote several letters to him every since I got the address but he has not sent a letter yet. I am really worried since I did not get a chance to talk to him when he called. I dont understand why he has not written me something. This so hard for me. If there are any moms who's son or daughter is on SHIP 03 in DIV 144 I would love to talk with you.

Mary you will get a letter from him that he sends at the request of the Navy you could say that will give you his address and tell you his graduation date. After that he will start sending you letter from himself personally. As soon as you get the letter that tells you his ship number and division you can start writting him. He will call a week or so after. Mary if you have a cell call forward your calls from home to your cell. I know how you feel I am a newbie too and I miss my sons call and I cried. Now I call forawrd when I leave the house. I also wrote him and gave him my cell phone number and told him to call my cell. Mary if I can help you please dont hestiate to let me know. I write my son everyday. He said they can only mail letters on Sunday and I dont get it until Thursday. It does get a little easier Mary especially after you get a phone call and you will.

Mary, Phone Cards and Phone Calls within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will tell you about phone calls. I suggest that you check out that Page and join the group while you are there and check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well. . Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups.

Some people get the address from the recruiter, but we discourage sending letters before receiving the form letter from your recruit. You can find out more on that within Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

My son is 1 day away from PIR3/15/2013. I have only received two calls the whole time. I also received 2 letters. He said they can only mail them out on Sundays and they just don't have time. This has been the worst part for me. But the wonderful moms who have been before have been invaluable. Stay connected, the time will pass

Others have given you specific info, I would just add that our son didn't write at all due to a very busy schedule the second half of his RTC and everything worked out alright.  Basically, no news is good news.  There is often a facebook page that family members set up for each PIR class so if you haven't found that yet, I would look for it.  In addition to the very helpful comments you will find here on Navy for Moms, we found helpful support there as well.  They usually have a PIR group here on this site too.

I'm new to this site, but so glad I found it!  Wish I had known 4 weeks ago!

KylasMom,I'm glad you found us. Join the group, PIR 05/24/2013 TG 28 – 11 Divisions (195-244 and 928), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 197 and 198 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There is a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.
