He love SC. He says its so nice there. The weather is different than back home in Texas. He might be there for 18 months so I'm glad he is enjoying his stay there.
Hey Wendy - How are you doing? Is Katelyn still in A school? Jon is in SC and we are hoping he will graduate in August. Then he is either off to Power school or maybe the Officer's Academy. He's not sure yet.
Still waiting to hear, no call yet. We are not on the list to go. Its her mom and dad. Just got word from her Dad, he is a truck driver, he was given a choice head to GL or take a run. He took it soo now he wont be able to attend. If he turned it down and went and she didnt pass he wouldnt be able to see her. That would be several days for him just sitting and waiting and no pay. Just praying she passes her run to be able to attend PIR friday. Thank you for your support and response.
Hi Katelyn's mom. Exciting day for our kids. I hope and pray they all do well. I am getting so ready to see mine. i bet you are too. We leave one week from tomorrow. I am excited to be meeting every one I have talked to online.
Hi Katelyn's mom, I am so excited to hear someone else's recruit is going to Monterey!!! My son is Zac, DIV 161. He wil be learning Chinese for 1 year and 3 months in CA, then 1 month in TX for instrumentation, then 3 yrs. SHORE DUTY in HAWAIII !!!! I am so excited ! Told my family to start saving- we're GOING TO HAWAII !! I hope his plan "sticks" and does not change!! Can't wait to meet yu at PIR !!
hi katelyn's mom, I have a birthday card ready to send to you for your sailor's friend. .. where do i send it? I live in california, i will send it priority if need be. I just want to help lift her spirits.
Emma
Hopefully the calls will come on the 8th, after then finish battle stations. I read that most calls come the after noon after, that way they have time to shower and eat first. Can't wait to get the I'm a Sailor call, just a few more days!
That is great. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need to know anything about San Antonio. Or even if you need me to drive by the base and check on her. I would be happy to help out in anyway. I'm going to email you my personal information so you can contact me if you need to once she is here.
San Antonio, Texas? That would be great. San Antonio is a great family town and is a great place to vacation when y'all come to see her. Where is she going to A school at? How long before she comes to San Antonio?
Hi, Katelyn's Mom, and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for 3-1/2 years.
By the way, there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon (west side of Indy) which meets on third Mondays. I know it'd be a drive for you, but if you're ever in town please just drop by. Click April 19 on the Events calendar (right-hand column) for those details. There's also a gathering in South Bend on April 24 to which you're welcomed.
The 8 weeks of bootcamp are tough for the sailor AND the mom, but they WILL pass! Just write as much as you can, keep telling her she can do it, and that you're proud of her and love her, no matter what happems. And if you attend PIR ("Pass In Review" = graduation), you'll be so proud that your chest will hurt!
Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.
