Thanks Mary - and yes, we're only three days into this and feel that sense of loss!! My husband (who is prior service - Army) is having a harder time than I am. Partly because he knows how hard it is to be away from family. Me, on the other hand, am ready for my son to take that next step into his own life. Although I miss him terribly, he needs to get out and experience everything life has to offer!! Besides, I have a nineteen year old and a 3 1/2 year old to keep my mind off of my first born leaving!
Thanks Mary, we are very busy here in Alpharetta, Ga getting ready for my daughter's wedding April 17th. My son, Johnny, is on his first deployment and we are going to really miss him at his sisters wedding. I was on-line trying to find any info I could about where his ship might have been so far, as he has been really good about not giving us any information.
Hi, Mary. My daughter is leaving on Wednesday for boot camp. I am very excited for her and worried about not being able to talk to her for weeks on end! She is AECF but not sure whether she is ET or FC -- like everyone else -- until she gets further along. She's going in as an E-3 because she's got three years of college. I have learned so much from this website, and you don't know how much better I feel having found this wonderful group to help me through this process!
Thanks Mary! I joined the GA group. I'm in Sharpsburg. Pretty far from Marietta, but I don't mind the drive so I'll keep an eye out for the next luncheon. I was actually wondering when he would find out about being an ET or an FC, thanks for the information. He seems excited about the job (or rank?), but I really don't know all that much about it. Thank you for the warm welcome, I really appreciate it. This is all so new and I'm glad I have a place to find answers as they come. :o)
Hey Mary, Thanks for the add! I'm south-west of the city. I haven't been successful in finding an Atlanta group on here. I'm new to all of this. My husband left last Tuesday (3/24) for boot camp and I don't know what to expect, but this website has been a wonderful resource!
Hey Mary! Since my computer has crashed,I use the desk top sometimes but most of the time Iwait for Mike to come home and use his lap top. I will be glad when I get my computer back.Spring break is starting next Friday and we are painting the inside of the house, starting with my Scrapbook room.I am so excited.Ok now I need to send Ashley a congrats on her wedding.Give that girl a big hug for me. Now you have a Nick 1 and a Nick 2.Congrats on being a new mom-n-law.
Nick did a practice test in their office and was told they were getting his paperwork together /they didnot call back/missed appointments he scheduled with them/have really dragged their feet/I am not getting involved as Nick wants to do it himself but it is very frustrating/Any suggestions? Thanks
Linda
Hi Mary !
Yes my husband was a FC1...he was stationed ...San Diego and Japan was the two places his ships were. He was on the USS Cochrane (DDG-21) and the USS Brooke (FFG-1).
My daughter was 20 mos old when she wore his uniform..She is now going in as a DC and trying to get her rescue swimmer.
hey Mary thanks for the Welcome and the encouragement! this is a great web site! I'm so glad i found out about it! My boyfriend and I have been inseparable for 3 years now. Not having any way of contacting him for almost a month was killing me. He called me yesterday! it could not have been more perfect! it really makes you cherish it a million times more!PRETTY INTENSE! It was the hardest decision he ever made, but definitely the right one! He has the kindest heart and it the best person I've ever known! keep him in your thoughts for me ! thanks again!
Hi Mary - my daughter is leaving for Boot Camp on 5/17. My husband was in the Navy before I knew him. We are both very proud of our daughter even though we will then be empty nesters. Thank you for your comments!
Hi Mary
Thank you for your nice email. My son Nick has been trying to get his recruiter to set up his test and physical etc and has had a bit of a wait. It seems to be taking a long time. Is that normal? Thanks
