Hi Colleen,  Thank you for responding.  The sight has been very helpful so far, but so much information!! Overwhelming!  I'm very new at this so still learning. One thing I did in error before I read anything was create my page & unknowingly used mine & my sons last name.  Oops!!  Just realized this a couple of days ago & don't know how to change it.  Can you help with this or steer me in the right direction?  I haven't contributed to any of the groups because of this yet.  Help!!

Thanks!  Ann

Thank you so much for approving me. My son left for Great Lakes on September 17 and he is my oldest and first to leave. I am having a very hard time and definitly hoping this brings some kind of calming to me. I received my first letter from him last week which he said he had got pnemonia while there his first couple weeks. I am hoping he is ok. Really scares me. Ive been reading and have read that if I havent received a call then thats a good sign so Im praying that is correct. I cannot wait to get a phone call from him. Thank you again!!

Hi Colleen, Thank you for responding!  I'm excited to know I will now be able to connect with other moms.  I live in San Pedro, CA.  One of my reasons for connecting with Navy 4 Moms is because I'd like to do something to help other moms in this area, as far as providing support.  There is a lot of military presence here and maybe I can pay it forward as they say!  I recently retired from the City of Los Angeles.  I worked as a secretary for 38 years.  I'm electronically challenged as far as Facebook, etc. lol.  I don't have any experience with posting or blogging so please bare with me. I had brain surgery in 2008 so I have a hard time with concentration, memory loss.  I don't have my son Justin here anymore to help me when I get stuck with something, Ha Ha which he would say is a good thing.  He just graduated from bootcamp on Oct 5 so I got to see him.  I felt so proud seeing him in his uniform.  Anyway I'll do my best to keep up with all the other moms : }

Is it possible for me keep in contact by email until I can get someone to help me set up?

Thank you, Karmin

Also, I need to correct cabrilloaquarillo.  It should be cabrilloaquarium.  How do I do that?

Thanks for letting me back in. I am not new to this site, I have a membership that I used daily when my son was at GL back in 09.  I forgot my password and the retrieval process requires that you have directions for the reset sent to your email box. Well back then my email was via sbcglobal and now I have comcast with no way of retrieving email from sbc because I deleted that email account. It is really not an issue, I don't mind starting fresh, all the friends I made on here back then I have since connected with on facebook. I do want to spend more time on here now that deployments have begun, I have two out there, a sailor and soldier. And I realized I was missing out on information on meet and greets and other events.  I am glad to be back.  Shery

Thanks for the welcome !

I've been lurking for the last several weeks. Daughter going to Great Lakes in January.  Trying to learn as much as I can and what to expect.  Everyone has great advice - looking forward to being able to post more. The support network is great !

Learning a lot - I appreciate all of the input that moms have posted regarding their recruits experience.  Still learning the lingo - and soaking up the information.

Thank you so very much for writing...Marcus is home FINALLY!!!  He and Ezzy marry tonight 10-11-12 @ midnight, in the middle of a park, in a gazebo.  We had to cancel all of their wedding plans for 31Dec11...his  recruiter said they could not get married...so they waited until this first trip home...then he is off to Bahrain after the first of the year, from San Diego...she follows, shortly thereafter.  We are going to have some sort of wedding celebration for and with them...but they have decided to elope so nothing has to be cancelled!  It's supposed to be 35 degrees or so...the wind is already howling!  She said she did NOT care and is wearing a NAVY hoodie!

Until next time Colleen...Linda

Thanks for the Welcome!  My DEP daughter left for BC Sept.10th and her PIR is 11/02/12 and my DEP son will be leaving for BC Dec. 26th, but I talked with Navy Recruiter and he told me that due to the holidays they will be leaving around 13th and I am really sad!  How can I find out if my Future Sailor that graduates 11/0212 will be home for Thanksgiving or Christmas or does the Navy allow Holiday breaks for Sailors in A school?

Thank you so much for the welcome.  My son, Andrew, is at boot camp.   We received a call from him on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, saying he has a stress fracture and will be there an additional 2 months.  He was due to graduate on November 2nd. He also said they were going to evaluate him for depression. We have received 2 letters from him and both seemed very positive and upbeat.  I am stressed over the lack of information.  Any advise would be most appreciated.
