All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Fishmom, Just noticed your comment on PIR 4/16/10. You commented about your friend's son,she was from Wales. It caught my eye because my son was PIR 4/16 and my husband was from Pencoed, Wales, UK. My son is div. 153.
So Heath told you that he and Mike have been in touch? That's great! They seem to hit it off when we were downtown with them. Mike said he is making a lot of friends. Ten are going to the same A school, six will have the same job. He felt good about that. I will be glad when we get the call................Mom I am a sailor now!

Hello, So sorry I have not replied, I have not been checking my page. I have only been on the PIR group. Sounds like Heath is doing great! Not sure you read my post on the PIR group, but Mike did call his dad. He was going to call me at work but I did not get a missed call or message. Not sure what happened. My husband said he sounded great. That's all I needed to hear. We received 2 letters 6 pages total. I was shocked. I will be glad when they are in A school. Nice that you have the inside info from you nephew. Have a great day! PS I am still running to the mailbox and phone

Sorry It has taken me so long to answer, I have not been on lately. I guess like us you have not heard from Heath. I am getting impatient. It is really getting hard. Do you guys have plans yet for graduation. I am looking forward to it. It would be nice to meet. I pray everyday for our sailors. My husband keeps telling me don't worry, if they have not put him on a plane and sent him home yet he is fine. Take care and hang in there! Margie
So glad Heath seems to be doing OK. Mike ship 10 div 163. Today is Mikes birthday. I have sent him tons of cards. I can't wait to get his letter and first call.
Hi fishmom, We received the box yesterday and the form letter today. How about you? We have made reservations for graduation. Mike said it is tough but he is getting through it. That is all I wanted to hear.
You'll have to forgive me if I repeat myself Margie. This websight does some crazy stuff. Anyways...I think it's great that Mike is a volunteer firefighter. Heath is one also. And it's cool about your boys being Eagle Scouts. That helps Mike with his rank, doesn't it? If you don't mind my asking, where have you guys decided to stay while you are up there? I'm thinking about making reservations tomorrow. I haven't been to Chicago in quite a while so I'm not sure waht we'll do. We do have friends that live in the area, but I'm not sure if we'll stay there or not. Thanks for the update on the name change.

Hi, FYI I updated my name I am now 209mikesmom, there were 2 mikesmom on and it was getting a little confusing. Mike is a volunteer firefighter and his station is 209. Steven and Brian worked on the conservation crews during their college summers in Philmont.They usually leave the end of April and are there till the end of August. All 3 boys are Eagle scouts. I am used to them coming and going.
Even though we don't have a date yet we did book a room. My husband travels a lot so we wanted to use his points. if the dates are not right we can change them. I think rooms are limited when you are using points.
Wow, three boys! I thought keeping up with one was hard. But I do understand, I have three brothers. What will Steve be doing out at Philmont? I've heard of it. It sounds like an awesome place. Good luck with the laundry. I haven't had the nerve to go into his room and start serious cleaning yet. Not sure that I can handle it just yet. The friends that we told you about that have a son a week ahead of ours called and said that his grad date is April 17th. So our kiddos should be having theirs on the 24th. Let's hope.

Brian will be graduating from Pitt Johnstown with a mechanical engineering degree. Our oldest is Steven, he just lost his job, so he and his girlfriend will be going to New Mexico to work at Philmont scout ranch for the summer.
I get the picking up after the boys thing. I have been finishing Mikes laundry this week, it is a weird feeling. I thought it was just me being crazy. I might be making a little change to my name. there seems to be 2 mikesmom. It can get a little confusing. Not sure what I am going t do yet. Take care, Margie
Well, I hope that it works out so you can go to both graduations. Where is Brian graduating from? If I've done my math correctly...and if nothing changes on their end, it should be the weekend of April 24th. I know how difficult it is. Letting the youngest go is difficult. Signifies too much permanent change in a mom's life. Our daughter is still here at home, but is getting married this fall. So, we do have that to look forward to and also to keep us busy right now. We have been checking out the websight quite a bit. It is helping. The most difficult thing is all of the stuff that he has left scattered all over the house. I find myself picking it all up and holding it like it's him. Crazy, I know, but maybe you understand.lol. We helicopter moms do have a hard time with this stuff. I've been writing him every night before I go to bed and it helps me to feel connected. We're a pretty close family and we do tend to talk alot, so I think that his hearing about what's going on back here may help him. It really does help to know where he is and that he is safe, if not also exhausted. I imagine they are pretty wore out by now. I do not, however, look forward to the days when we won't be allowed to know where they are. So, I'm just sort of thankful for these days. Well, I hope that you have a good weekend Margie. Take care.

We are planning to go for graduation, we are just hoping that it is not the weekend of May 1st. Our son Brian will be graduating college that day. He said he does not care if he walks he just wants that piece of paper. I would just like to fit both in, but our plan is to attend Mikes. I talked to the recruiter on Friday he said he will have something for me on Monday. How are you doing? I just want to hear Hi mom it's hard, but I am getting through it and I am fine. Have you checked out the boot camp moms page. Lots of good info there. Have a great day. PS I just can't stop thinking about Michael..........We are now empty nesters.....................

I always tell the kids I know everything because I am on the mom internet haha. We saw Heath today downtown. He seemed happy. We have pictures of them taking the oath. I will have my husband send them to you.When I saw a new person from New Castle with the name fishmom I knew it had to be Heaths mom, he told us all about fishing. Mike called when they landed and again to let us know the box is coming and we will not hear from him for three weeks. I guess we will get the address from the box. Keep in touch it is going to be a long three weeks. Michael is our youngest.
