Hello..how are you holding out? I read your text from your daughter, how proud you must be. I wish my son would have taken his cell phone. He left it home and figured he would just throw away the clothes he had on. He did not want to pay for shipping. LOL Last Thursday after leaving MEPS we drove to the airport to see him off. When arriving there we did not know where to go or even if we would find Joe. He didn't have his cell and I was a basket case. My husband kept telling me, " well, you got to tell him good-bye at MEPS..don't be sad." but I wanted every second I could have. We were just getting ready to leave and my cell rang. I looked at the number and it was strange. I knew in my heart at that instant it was him. One of the seven boys he was waiting with had a cell and let him use it. He ended up being at the other end of the airport at the gate and unless you are a ticket holder you are not allowed there. I would have never found him. We had lunch and I (trying not to be obvious) stared at him the entire time we sat there. It was the hardest thing watching him walk away to the boarding gate. Good Luck to you. Debbie

Hello! So far so good - talked to Nikki friday and she will do her final PFA 11/18 so if no call that day we are good to go- she said the test and battlestations is under control - more worried about her ankle for that final run. She sounded so good on the phone. I cant wait to see her. I have to write her tonight and send tomorrow- How you handling it? Are you keeping busy? I hope so- I did a spring cleaning in september when Nikki left to help pass the time- I even washed and waxed the cars I did all kinds of busy work. LOL Have you gotten the box yet? or her PIR date? Dont worry about the comment thing I just approve them anyway.

No the blue candle is for when they go to battlestation. Battlestation is the last "test" (so to speak) before they go from being recruits to Sailors. You have about six more weeks but they will go by quick.

Thanks for the friendship, keep me updated on your daughter. My son has been in for a little over a year now and he really likes it. He's in SD on the USS Rentz as an EM. I looked at your pictures, you have some beautiful girls! I bet you have to beat the men off with a big stick. My son will be coming home Dec. 30, so we will be celebrating our Christmas a little late but that's ok. I can't wait to see him and cook some of his favorite meals. He said that's what he misses most. Let's hope your daughter will get to come home then too. I hope you can make it to her graduation, it's quite an ordeal, bring tissue! Keep in touch!

My daughter arrived in GL for BC on Tuesday night and began Wednesday. My mother was a single mother, and I can say she has always been my hero, that is until my daughter joined the NAVY. I have 2 heros. You are a hero to your daughter. There is nothing that is like a mother who sacrifices for her children. Congratulations!

I cried all day Monday after I put my 18 year old on the bus for MEPS. I still have moments, just because I miss her.

This site is great and full of information. I got my 'kid in the box' yesterday. I called the recruiter and am waiting to get her address.

Hang in there. You are not alone. I understand the roller coaster I have been through this week. I am counting down the days....

It is so hard. I am just waiting for him to come home any minute and tell me he is starving, after I already put everything away and cleaned the kitchen!!!!! That would be Ok though.

I know exactly what you mean. we have all been there and its not easy on us- I think its harder because we have the time to dwell- they dont lol. do you have a facebook? you can add me i will pm you my name- I have control of nikkis facebook and i have her friends write her on there and i print and mail to her - I also send pics and whatever else to help brighten her day. she told me that i keep her sane. my husband thought i was nuts with all the writing but when she said she needed more letters i laughed and said I told you so! be encouraging and lift her up as much as possible cause they do break them down - her first letters will be discouraging but then all of a sudden they get really good and sound like a completely different person- pray alot and talk to whoever will listen! get out of the house - forward the calls to your cell when you leave- i missed one call and felt bad all week! dont make any reservations plans till last minute - never know what can happen my daughter had an ankle injury week 4 and was in RCU for a month- just a few suggestions and things to ponder- honestly the 4 week hold was the worst part bacause i was in limbo waiting for what was going to happen next.. finally got a call last tuesday that shes back on track. Also if anything should happen they call you and tell you immediately so thats where no news is good news... if you have any questions feel free to ask ..

We are all in this together. Our kids will be fine. They are in good hands and I am so grateful for all this support. I was a basket case all day today too. But got trough it. I miss my boy terribly. I just watched a graduation video on you tube and it made me cry. Silly me, I thought I was done for the day. What was i thinking. Hang in there all you moms.
