Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass isno longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I saw you are also a part of the Yeoman Moms group. As I was reading thru the comments, I noticed that you said your son went from undesignated to Yeoman. My daughter also went in as undesignated and struck for YN and got picked up for it. Just wanted to ask you for feedback of how the experience has been for your son with the transition from undes to Yeoman. I will send you a friend request and perhaps we can PM more about this. I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page to remove it from there as well. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well, such as thechanges in numbers 3 and 4. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Donna, my best advice about having a packing party is to first read and then print out the directions posted on the MAS page. You have to follow all the directions to have the postage paid by MAS, but they're just good directions, too, to help you get organized.
Take a copy of the customs form that MAS has posted to your PO and ask them if they want it done differently. You use the return address that's on the example, but my PO didn't like the way the sailor's address was entered on the form. They told me to put the address exactly as it is on the address we're given. The clerk told me to ignore the labels on the form for the address.
Check the box for gift, and over on the right there's a box about what should happen to the box if it's not delivered to the addressee. We used to check a box that said something about forwarding it to someone else and we'd write in "any chaplain." Can't do that anymore. We check instead " return to sender."
When we list contents, we used to get away with "snacks' instead of "chips, pretzels, peanuts." We can't use "snacks" anymore or "personal care items." It has to be more specific.
Order your boxes, tape, and customs forms NOW. Go talk to your PO for the best advice as well as when they want you to show up with the boxes. Even though our party is Sunday, the PO told me not to bring them Monday or Tuesday as they don't have the staff on those days.
Also be prepared to have address labels and return labels in addition to the custom forms. Return address is Molly's always.

That's great news to know that they would be "awesome" to have. So excited about the packing parties New England mommas are putting together. Usually it is IL, FL and a few other states. But we are showing the country how it is done New England style!! With lots of fun and some really great ideas.
Do you think you'll be able to make it to the MA Moms packing party at my house on 10/19? We are packing Thanksgiving goodies & nerf footballs. Chelita and her family and friends are making 300 pies in a jar - one for everyone!!! 100 apple, 100 pumpkin, and 100 pecan. I'm making sugar cookies and some pumpkin cheesecake bars. We're also sending some decorations.
Hoping to make Thanksgiving extra special for these sailors.
Thanks for contacting me. My sailor will be home for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I can not wait!!!! He has found an apartement for him and his wife and they will be starting their life out there after the holiday. It is always good to meet other parents whose children serve together even though the children may not know each other lol it is a big ship.
