Hi Pat - I've been strugging for about an hour to find a list of whats needed (still needed) special hugs and which facilities are in the greatest need. I'm sure it's somewhere easy to find but I'm not having any luck. Must be brain damage from Black Friday shopping since the wee hours this morning...lol

Pat, you must be the only mom I've found besides myself who actually wrote "concerned or afraid"  in your profile above!!

Pat, thanks so much -- I've put the Cantigny event on my calendar, and I'll be looking for you.  Would it be OK if I brought some of my Blue Star Banner posters along as well?  Even though it's a veterans event, there might be folks who are unaware of the grand old tradition...

Thanks for your welcome Pat, yes my son is in BC 5 days now, its still emotional for me as haven't gotten the box or letter with his address yet, but have been writing every day and will send them as soon as the address arrives, my son also wants subs, scored 99 on his ASVAB so I am hoping that with good study habits and perseverence he will make it through A school, Nuke school and prototype. I am so proud of him, he is the baby and the last one to leave home, now its just me and the dog (who looks depressed as she can't figure out why his door is closed and its so quiet now.  Do I do just one box for one person or can I try to get others in my area to send them too?

Hi Pat! I did join the group and I will be there on the 29th to help in whatever way I can. I'm really looking forward to it and to meeting everyone. I've been talking to friends about the program and after we are all done crying over sailors who have nothing coming from home, they all want to pitch in. I think it will be an amazing way to pitch in and do what I can for our troops. Thanks for letting me know about it!

I am confused! Arghhh!!  I read the New Moms thingy but my brain is swimming.  So do I need to get approved first?

At 10:46pm on August 2, 2012, MarianneKT's Mom said…

Yes, thank you.  I read through the items today. It all came together once I was approved and then went to the site to see the address.   My daughter was on a 'Gator' over in Japan.  I loved sending her 'shop' baked cookies and bars.  Katie's older sister also sent her baked goods and fudge from Fudge du Lockes in the Soo. Katie always shared the boxes of goodies.  No other mother in her Engineering shop sent homebaked treats, so I know how much the love to receive them.

Thanks Pat. I met a couple of very active mom's in Molly's Adopt A Sailor at a luncheon in Washington last month. Nancy and Susan. I've been looking for information regarding how to get on base (in Everett, WA) when a certain ship comes in sometime in the middle of June. Another mom suggested contacting the Ombudsman of the base. Is that your suggestion also?

Thanks for your help! Monica (Ebigirl)
