Hi Ms. Maria! I got my "I'm a Sailor" phone call!!! He sounded SOO tired! I guess a few guys had trouble passing an acedemic test & in order to make their PIR Dec 3rd Matt stayed up all night helping them study (He is the Education Petty Officer of the division) Then had to stay up all night again for battle stations! I guess they get a pizza party type thing. He said he'd try to call again if he can. He also said it snowed today. So expect it to be COLD COLD COLD! Something I'm not looking forward to! I hope you got your phone call! I feel soo much more at ease now knowing that he's passed. I didn't get travelers insurance on the trip & was worried I'd be flushing $1200 if he got sick or something & wasn't going to be able to graduate on time. FFFEEEEWWW!! I feel like I'm on top of the world! :D I hope all is well with you & yours! Take care!

Hey ms.maria! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I enjoyed my time with my S.R. Although it was short, it was totally worth it! Be prepared PIR weekend to almost not recongzie your son! I saw the shocked look on many family members faces when they released the recruits! & was very suprised finding myself hardly recongnizing my husand! They are all dressed so similiar, fit & clean shaven. They make recruits who need glasses wear huge gooffy glasses, That is basicly the only distinction! I am getting very excited about seeing him again for PIR! I got a hotel with a kitchen, so we can cook for fun & save some $. I will be attending PIR along with my in laws, It shall be very awkward because they had a bitter divorce & haven't spoken since, & they will both be there. I remind them that we are going to support Matt. But it should be interesting! My half sister lives nearby & I have plans for my father inlaw & husband to have lunch with her family. I'm also trying to think of fun day time things to do, weather permitting. Like drive to Chicago & visit a 100+ story building! or maybe just go to the mall nearby & people watch. The high was 32 on friday when I was there, SO DRESS WARM! & plan a lot of time in between car rental & hotel check in. There is a shuttle to the rental car places at the airport. & keep some change for tolls. Better opt for a GPS! I got lost even while using one! It cost a but more but worth it, because the base if not so easy to find & freeway ramps come up quick with few signs. Lots to look forward to! I got strep throat while on my trip, not sure at what point exactly. I'm taking antibiotics now & wouldn't let anything stand in my way of going to PIR!! I just hope I didn;t get Matthew sick! Looking forward to PIR!!! :D :D The days are getting easier now aren't they!?

Hi Ms. Maria! It is good that you know what is wrong with your son, I'm sure the DR will take good care of our loved ones in BC. Like I was telling you, my brother had the same thing. I hope your sons condition gets better & he eats his veggetables! ;) I am going to see my husband earlier than PIR! His division 016 has earned to have Thanksgiving off in an "adopt a sailor' program. He called me a few days ago & we made the arrangements. It'll be an expensive trip for just one day, but he really insisted on me going. He has been doing very well & is EPO of the division (Educational Petty Officer) He is a few years older than the majority & loves the responsibility & respect from his peers. Our SR's are working their butts off to be able to write us letters & phone calls! I'm so proud of them all!! :) Your son's PIR date will only change if he falls behind. You should receive a phone call from him if his PIR date has changed. I have my fingers crossed for you! So there is a meet & greet at the ramada in the night before PIR Dec2nd, I'm not able to make it cuz I'll be arriving around midnight but you should attend if you can. It's a great way to figure out details, what to do, what not to do's etc. BTW my husband told me to dress to impress for PIR, we'll be meeting the Chief's & I guess jeans is a little too casual. I look forward to hopefully meet you soon! Woo! The days are growing ever soo closer! :D

did the doctors give you any reason when you brought him in for the problem before? sounds to me like it may be diet related. they have a very well balanced diet while in BC & the condition may be caused by a change in diet. my brother had a similar problem a few years ago, missing school because he was in soo much pain. & we figured out it was caused because he never ate vegetales, & had to cut out spicy foods & dairy out of his diet because his system couuldn't digest it. everyonce in a while he still has to take milk of magnesium for the condition. I hope you hear some good new soon Ms Maria! Don't stress too much about it! It'll only drive you crazy! wish you & your loved ones the best!

I have done TONS of research about the boot camp process, This website has been more helpful than the recruiter. It is very exciting & eases my mind now that I have found someone from the same div! I do not know the PIR date yet, which varies by a week or so. My husband went in Oct 7th (they take new recruits on either Tues or Thurs) I was glad he decided to bring his cell phone (got to talk to him durring travel) Have you received you sons box? I have received the box, still awaiting the letter. From what I've read, the box with their stuff comes after the 1st week, the letter with contact info comes the 2-3 week, a phone call the 3-4 week (if they earn it) I hope I am able to afford to go to the PIR (graduation) My husbands 'A' school (tech school after BC) is only 9 weeks long & they won't pay for the cost of my moving to be with him because it is under 6 months, I am going to go on my own dollar because we want to be with each other. Right now I'm hoping to do both (PIR & moving for 'A' school.) Watch this video, it gives you an understanding on how BC is & is helpful with military jargon. Wonderful to meet you Maria, you can call me 'E' :) keep in touch!
