Hi Susan-Andrewsmom, I got a letter last week from my son Marshall who is on ship 10, Div. 253. He said things were going along o.k. I am hoping to receive a call from him this week. I will let you know if I do.
Thanks, Susan, for changing your PIR name. You have a bunch of eager moms in that PIR group, which is WONDERFUL. But I think too many groups were starting which is so confusing. I'm hoping that all will be directed to yours since yours is titled in the correct way now. Every now and then, continue to post on boot camp that this PIR group is there for new moms. Remind them how to find your group!
Susan, can you retitle your group PIR 7/30/2010? rather than 7/30 I didn't find yours when I put that date in and so I started another one. One of the moms on boot camp group told me about this one (so I deleted mine). If you can change the title to the above, it will be in the same format as the other PIR groups and easier to find for those looking for it. Someone else started one for the same PIR, but with a ship/div number first. Most people will be looking for the general PIR group name because the PIR groups have many more members than individual division groups do. Thanks!
Hi Susan, my son has the same PIR as yours. I joined your group and started one with his Div. I noticed a comment on Bootcamp Moms from diannep that she too started a group for PIR 7/30/10. I told her there was a group already and this was her message to me. Since you started the group I thought you may be interested in renaming it so we can all get together in one place. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at PIR!

Hi! I see the problem with why I didn't see your group. Usually the groups are listed like this: PIR m/dd/yyyy. One of the groups didn't have a year on it, and one had a ship/div before the PIR date Probably best to keep it in format like I said above. Can you change your group to reflect that? I will delete mine so you can do that. Then please post on boot camp again so others know. You may want to post it several times over the next few days to catch everyone. Good luck!

Hi Susan...I know how hard this bc experience can be for the first time. I miss my son, too. But, it seems a little bit easier for me this time. You see, my oldest son is a Marine, and, I went through the bc experience with him a couple of years ago, not to mention his first deployment to Afghanistan last year. So, I've been broken in, I guess you can say. I miss my youngest, William, who is now at BC with your son, but, I have a lot of confidence in our boys and know that they will get through this just fine.
Oh, I can certainly relate to your 13 year old missing his brother. I have 3 boys myself, and, when William left for bc his older brother cried.
Try to focus on Andrew's Graduation Day, Susan. When my oldest son went to MCRD, their bc was 3 months long, and, I marked off every day on my calendar until it was time for us to fly out to San Diego for his Graduation! You will be so proud of your son when you see him again! You'll get throug this. Hang out with the girls here. It's so comforting to know that there are others missing their boys, too.
I've put in a friend request to you so that we can keep in touch. My first name is Amanda.
Hang in there Susan! And, if it fits, try wearing a piece of clothing that your son used to wear. That has helped me in the past!
