Hi FresnoNavyMom, I have been trying to stay busy, but find myself sitting and zoning out, thinking about how he is, what he is doing, what all I need to do, and so on, lol.  I have started writing to him and even got the free phone cards to send to him when I get the address.  I am gathering all of the things he had/has lying around and sent in his "box" paperwork wise, and putting it in a plastic container.  He is my last child and it is proving to be taking it's toll on me, I try not to dwell on it, it just sneaks up on me.  So much in so little time has happened and now that things aren't busy, it's finally creeping in.  His 18th birthday, his moving out (his step-dad and him got into an argument), graduation, Open house/going away party, planning, MEPS, and now waiting, haha! Oh my.  Hang in there girl, we all can vent and support one another through here, most of all, we all do understand here!  Blessings and prayers!

My son left July 16th.  We haven't heard from him since we got the "I'm here safe" call which lasted only about 15 seconds.  We received his box of belongings about 4 days later.  I carry my cell phone absolutely everwhere...afriad that I will miss his call, even at work.  I have been worrying everyday, too....fear of the unknown, I guess you would say.  Not knowing how he's doing, hoping he's ok, etc.  I have been writing letters everyda, but haven't been able to mail them yet, as we haven't gotten his address yet.  I can't wait to hear his voice again, either.  I miss him so much.

Hello FresnoNavyMom,  My son left on tuesday the 17th.  I am feeling the same way, I am proud but lonely for him.  He was able to call me for about 8-10 minutes when he got off of the plane, and then the 12 seconds call a while later.  His box arrived Friday, 3days later and now I am waiting on the letter.  I hope you find comfort on these forums and are feeling better each day.

We got "the call" last night. Actually, I felt very fortunate, because my son took his cell phone with him and called me from the plane as it was taxiing on the runway. So, I got to talk to him for almost 4 minutes, instead of 30 seconds. He then called his dad last night at about 10:30 (2230?) with the official "I'm here" call. His dad texted me to and said it was exactly what this site told me it would be - short and scripted. Now, I live for the day when I get to hear his voice again.

You're so very welcome!  Keep your chin up! I hope your call doesn't come too late tonight. Ours came at 11:00pm Mountain time and since they said anywhere from 9-2am is the norm, it was earlier than I expected.  Hope he sounds upbeat and good, not already tired from his extra night in CA before leaving! Oh, and darling pic! °Ü°

Hey there!  How are you holding up?  He called at 3 a.m. last night and said I'm here and I gotta go. I thought he told me he would have 2 minutes to talk?  Soooo, now the waiting begins.  Glad you contacted me...it is so special to be able to talk to mothers going thru same exact thing!

Welcome Fresno mpm,

My son left yesterday as well. He stayed overnight in San Jose, where I visited him and had dinner with im. Now I woke up with a hole in my heart. I know he is safe, but I want to speak to him one more time. Hang in there!
