Hi Mary,
Thanks for the invite to this group. I am a bit computer challenged so don't get on much but as the time approaches my daughters send off to bc i am sure i will need more and more support/comfort. keep in touch! and thanks again,
sandi-Tori's mom!!
Hi Mary!
Thanks for inviting me to check out the group for us Georgia Navy Moms! It seems like we've been waiting so long for Robby to leave for Basic, but now it's almost time for him to leave and it's flying by! He leaves on 7/20. We are so proud of him and all he is doing to prepare himself to be successful at Great Lakes (and beyond). He's in the best physical shape he's ever been in and his attitude is so positive - it's been great! Thanks again for making contact with me. Sherry
Hi Mary, Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to meeting you also. Does Ga. Navy Moms ever get together for lunch or anything? My Chris arrived at GL Thur May 27th.Was suppose to leave on the 24th but the MEPS switched systems and lost his finger prints so he kept having to go down and give them again and it would get lost again so finally all was taken care of and he left on Thur. His rating is AECF. He is very excited about it. You said you also have a son in the Army. My husband retired in 1996 from the Army. It was truly 19 years that seemed like 1 and 1 year that seemed like 19. The military really is a family. Our God son will deploy again to Iraq later this year on his 5th tour.I saw that you son is FC. Does he enjoy it.That is kind of where Chris is leaning.Just needs to get through BC and A school first.Looking forward to chatting with you. Vicki
I joined the group for the Oscar Austin first and then discovered this one for ET's and FC's. I see there are several other mom's who live in Madison heights.
Hi Mary - You're my first friend! Our Son, Andy, graduated from boot camp in March of 07. He's an FC2 on the Oscar Austin that just deployed from Norfolk. He married his high school sweetheart right after A-School and they have a house in Norfolk (they're two year anniversary is this weekend). He doesn't really share a lot with me and I wasn't aware of these groups until I Googled the Oscar Austin after deployment. I have received a few e-mails from him since deployment.
Hahaha. I'm glad to know there's a break between crazy months. And yea, I'm going to Charleston with him. He has a 2 year A school, so they let me! I'm really excited. Everyone keeps saying how amazing it is. Did I see a comment about orders for Hawaii? Congrats. That must be amazing.
Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate you taking the time on a stranger. :) But Rick is in Basic, at least for the next few weeks. Then we're off to Charleston. But I do have a question: Does all the red tape ever get easier to handle?
Thank you for the 'welcome' Mary. I am learning my way around and the ins/outs...so much to take in at times. When J left for BC he was to be going into ET but once he finished BC was placed into FC. Right now he is in a holding pattern waiting for A school to start up. There is alot of talk that it could be 2-6 months before he starts. Erin is going nuts about that. She figured by January he would be moving on to the next phase and she would be moving with. As of now she is staying in St.Louis and traveling on weekends. I just keep telling her "just breathe" I did tell her about the group and she says thanks she will be joining that ...she uses military wife support (or something like that) ever since he joined. J's parents are Navy which helps all of us alot. They can usually keep her cool, calm, and collected =) Thanks again!!
Thank you, Mary, for your comments. I wasn't worried about my son at GL, I was
concerned about this website and other mothers leaving comments about their
son/daughters ship #, Div. while they are at boot camp. Thank you for reminding me that Internet websites are NOT secure...I'm so new at this, it hurts (haha).
Hi, Mary. Thanks for the welcome. I have a question: if "Loose lips sink ships..." then why do other mothers list their son or daughter's: ship #, and Div.? I guess it's safe on this protected website. My son Matt reported to RTC on May 5th and his grad. date is July 2nd. He went in as an Electircian's Mate, I think, but since he's only been there 2 weeks, I don't know yet if he'll be going to "A" school after grad. or what. I live in Kailua. I'll have to make travel arrangements asap.
Thanks for any comments you have. Aloha, Hawaii Mom

My son is stationed in Norfolk, and will be deploying this month. I live in Central Calfiornia, midway between Fresno and Yosemite National Park.

Mary,
Just wanted to let you know that I got a phone call from my son yesterday, and got a nine page letter, whoopee !
He will graduate with his group May 21st.
I still have not gotten a grad packet, and I really don't know what that is supposed to have in it. I have printed out our parking permits, and made our hotel reservations.
I have been told that once my son has given the names that are showing up we should be OK to get in. He is in a grad and go , so thats kinda sad, but hey, right now I'll take anytime I can get. Thanks for all your support to this group.
he will not find out until boot camp, he didn't get a specific rating. he's ready to get going though. his dad and brother are/were in the military so he's used to the lifestyle. it is definitely going to be an adjustment for me, BUT i see it as the adventure of a lifetime! i'm so happy i found this website!
