I live in NE Florida. Moved here 3 years ago. My son is living in the midwest but will leave for OCS on August 22, 2010, very soon! I retired from a career in education and work as a manager at a beach and tennis club in St. Augustine. This is my only child, an only son!
I am here to support my
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it

I did not see your son's name on the face book list. There is a facebook group just for those going to OCS on Aug 22. It is called "22 August 2010 OCS Class" Have your son check it out and see some of the other individuals that will be there with him. My son's name is Michael Hook (just like the captain :-)
My son is really ready to start OCS but scared at the same time. We just try to be positive and supportive. He continues to read all he can and study the info in advance (one less thing to do when he is there). Plus he is practicing eating left handed with a SPOON !!!! He continues to work out on push ups, sit ups and running. Not making as much progress as he would like. He is no PT stud.
I have already made hotel reservations for the November graduation ceremony and thinking about what type of gift to buy for him.
Michael has all his gear that he is suppose to take, it sure does not look like much, but they will be buying all the required “stuff” there.
