OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hello Phoenixmom,

I’m a mom to a recruit that left Jan. 15th. He made us stay so out of the loop on this whole process (joining the Navy behind our backs when he was all set to go to University) that I knew nothing going into this venture. I didn’t even know about the first phone call. I’m sitting there the night he left in a lonely, black stupor with my phone off. I even skipped Bible Study that night, which is not like me because I love people, and unbeknownst to me he tried giving me that call. It was my other son who told me about how he got the call and I was like, “what!?!!” Then I checked my phone and sure enough he had tried, but when he didn’t reach me, he must have decided to reach out to his best friend, his brother.
Anyway, since then, I’ve been ravenously reading everything to gain some sanity and give my heart a reprieve. This NavyMoms site has given back my sanity. I went into the recruiting office yesterday to see if I could get his division number because I’m dying to send him some form of communication. His recruiter left for the police academy so they said I needed to wait for the form letter.
Seeing your notice about the March 15th PIR is something I’ve been waiting for because I believe that will be his graduation date. When you say it’s not up yet, do you mean on the NavyMoms website? At that point will I be able to possibly connect with other moms who have sons that will hopefully graduate on the same day? Again, I love this site and reading everything helps me get through each day. I love the scripture readings too from you. So thank you from the bottom of my longing heart. He is my last born and we are now empty nesting. Such a weird place to be in, but God is good ALL THE TIME!

Hi Phoenixmom,  You asked about Oliver.  He is doing wonderful.  I would like to share a picture with you, but none of the pictures I have received are shareable.  Hi is off all oxygen, eating food and growing like a weed.  When I get a picture to share, I will definately share with you..

Hello Phoenixmom, I see that your sailor is being deployed.  Just want to let you know I will be praying for you all.  Is this his first deployment?  Caleb tells me that most ships are running silent right now, so you may not hear anything for a while.  My faith got me through the 8 months that Caleb was deployed.  Just remember that he is where God wants him right now.  He is in  God's hands.

Hello! Sorry I have been MIA around all my Navy groups and most social media lately. I've been a little stressed with worrying about my son. not hearing from him was really hard and when we finally got a letter and a call earlier than should have been was extremely hard. he was sent to seps last week and now awaiting a date to come home. Not sure if he will want to try again when he is able or not. He gets to call every day or every other day which is nice to hear his voice and know he is ok. his little family can't wait for him to get home. I gotta say I was bummed but now kind of relieved he is coming home........With that being said I will most likely leave the group once he is home and I know I wasn't here very long but thank you for the invite and the help you all have given me. Prayers for your families and loved ones in the military and for serving our country. May God be with them every step of the way and keep them safe in any journey they are on.
