I would be having a much harder time with this is Dave were younger or my first child to leave home. Glad you caught that call. Too bad the little brothers didn't get to hear his voice, too. Are they doing better? We've all made it half way now! Hooyah! Dave's nine year old niece goes to the mailbox every day and cries because she hasn't gotten anything from him yet.
I missed my SR's call last night. I was vacuuming at my Mom's and didn't hear my cell phone. He left a message though. So nice to hear his voice and know that he's ok.
I am going to PIR graduation...wouldn't miss it. I am staying at same hotel, and planning on going to Sarge's Meet & Greet...I hope we get a chance to meet that would be great.
You got a phone call. That's awesome! I'm still waiting for one. I think he may have had his turn and used it to call his girlfriend. They've been dating for almost 3 years. Are you going to PIR? My older sons and I are going to drive down from MN. We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott and planning to go to Sarge's meet and greet on the 3rd. Hope to have a chance to meet you in person in Chicago!
I got a call last night...so excited to hear his voice !! He says it is alot of work. but doing well. He says he loves all the letters I have been sending. I told him about this website and he said that all the guys talk about it...he said the same about the last names. His last name is White.
Hi jenny116. Haven't heard from you since they split the SRs into divisions. Just wanted to stop by and say hello and see how it's going? I've had 3 letters so far and Dave seems to be doing well. How about your son?
THIS IS ON THE US NAVY RTC FACEBOOK PAGE...
On November 30, 2012 fifteen divisions will be graduating, therefore RTC will enforce the following policy:
ALL GUESTS, including Active Duty/Retired Military Personnel and those ages 3 and older must be on the access list. (Children 2 and under do not need to be on the access list)
Individuals not on the access list will NOT be able to enter the drill hall and we do NOT have a standby list.
Graduation Day Schedule
6:30 am: RTC gate opens to guests.
7:00 am: Ceremonial drill hall doors open to guests.
8:45 am: All guests must be seated.
9:00 am: Pass-In-Review commences.
9:20 am: Divisions arrive.
10:30 am: Pass-In-Review concludes.
This policy will also be enforced for all graduations beginning January 1st, 2013. Thanks to all for your continued support of Recruit Training Command, the Navy's only boot camp!
I heard from Austin's Recruiter that his PIR is Jan 4th
You have his address? Good for you! I'm still waiting for Dave's. If it doesn't come tomorrow I will call the recruiter on Friday. I thought maybe the holiday on Mon. delayed the form letter. It's starting to sink in that he's really gone. :( But it's all good. They're out there going for it, making a life for themselves.
I received the box today. I cried, just for a minute but never the less I did. My daughter who is five put on his sweatshirt and said "Oh it smells just like Austin"
Yes, I did receive the box of his belongings, but that is all. I don't have his address yet.
