OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

N4M's Community Guidelines

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi Moms!  One year ago we were all beginning to make our way to Great Lakes to see our new Sailors PIR.  Happy memories!  Hope you and all of your sailors are thriving.  Happy New Year!

Hello everyone!  CO-TwinSailorsMom, time for an update.  How did it go with your second sailor?  Has your foster child left yet?

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on April 9, 2013 at 1:14am
Davesmom- my second leaves for GL 4-22. So far they are so different that it is almost like starting over. Then I get to do it again with our foster kid.

CO-TwinSailorsMom, has your 2nd baby left for BC yet?  Thinking of you.  It has to be hard to start that whole process over again.  (((NMH)))

I think my son will be going to Italy this summer. His twin is about to go to Boot Camp next month. Empty nest here I come.

Hi all! Our son (div 908) graduated from MA school on Friday. He's with us and will be home for 2 weeks before flying to his first command in the Seattle area. It's good to read the updates on others from his TG. Only a few months ago we were all adjusting to our sons/daughters/spouses being away from home, some for the first time.

Thanks, vzz. I finally got a letter yesterday.  It was written on 11 Feb. so it took a total of 11 days in the mailing process.  Better than nothing!  Will put together a care package tomorrow in hopes that he gets it while he's still deployed.  lol  Glad to hear all is well with you and your sailors, everyone.

Steve txted last night that he passed his cert 701 with decent scores and he has another to pass next week.  He enjoyed a beech mardi-gras party a week or so ago.  He should graduate about July or August.
