OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

List of what they are doing?

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 5:34pm 1 Comment

Is there a list somewhere that give you an idea of what they are doing that week?

Hair Cuts????

Posted on April 5, 2012 at 2:41pm 4 Comments

Do they make ALL the girls cut their hair, even if they have hair ties to keep it pulled back out of their face?

My daughters recruiter said that they changed this policy, not sure how honest our recruiter is!

PIR Attendance Question

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 7:13pm 0 Comments

I have a very close family friend that wants to attend my daughters PIR, I understand that there is some open seating (NOT GUARENTEED TO BE AVAILABLE) that they only allow people entrance to right before the PIR starts....

Is this true? Can she get on base with me with proper ID and just wait until they allow people to be seated in the open seating area?

Does anyone know about things like this?

Train????

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 3:46pm 2 Comments

I heard that there is a train that we can catch with our new sailors to head downtown Chicago. Does anyone know of the cost or anything about it?

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes. Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

You may want to check out Mom's of Daughters 2, Mom’s of Navy Daughters, and Women in the Navy.

What is her rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.

You may also want to join CARRIER Families!. This fB page may be of interest as well, https://www.facebook.com/USSTheodoreRoosevelt. The home port will shift to San Diego at the end of the current deployment and you will want to join San Diego Moms or Sailors in San Diego, San Diego Moms/SOs, Lemoore NAS California Moms, and/or Sailors Stationed in California at that time if your Sailor is staying with the TR. If your Sailor changes to the GW instead, join USS George Washington Sailors, CARRIER Families!, and/or Norfolk Sailors - Family & Friends.
