My son left June 24th for boot camp! We received a call at 1:48 a.m. to say he made it, no more phone calls for 3 weeks! I didn't realize how hard this would be!Continue

We received a call from Zack on Saturday 28th, he had been in the hospital for one night at that point with some type of bacteria build up in his throat so they told him he could call. It was great to hear from him but killing me that I couldn't be there for him. He has been in the hospital for 3 nights now, but they did remove the IV yesturday and he is going back to his div today. He did say that they hadn't started the BC yet, but will start it on Tuesday!

I did get to talk to him this past Sat. He called the Sat before but hubby didn't recognize the area code and let it go to voice mail. I cried all day and most of the week. I couldn't do anything Navy related, even talk to my parents without losing it. But I did get to talk to him and he was in real good spirits and seems to be doing just fine. I am looking forward to talking to him again this weekend I hope.
I see you have changed your Username, you may also need to change the URL to this page. Make changes 2 and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
When decorating a door, you can use a poster board, a plastic table cloth, or cloth. From there, the decorations are up to you--do avoid glitter though unless it is sealed in because you would not want your Sailor or another Sailor to get it on him. Blue painter tape, sticky tack, or Command strips work well fro securing it to the hotel door without damaging the door. It is generally OK to include your Sailor's name on your decoration. Some also include the division, but that is up to you--I say not to for those with one in an 800 division, but that doesn't affect you. Any of the crafts stores have things to use as well as W-M, K-Mart, and Target. You may be able to get a plastic table cloth at one of the party stores, such as Party City.
Morning Tammy,
I think weapons training is going to be the favorite. I know my son is looking forward to it too. Battle Stations will be exciting too. I have been praying for Division 257 since learning they are 258's brother division and will be doing battle stations together.
Hi Tammy,
No I didn't get a call, I think Erik will call his dad. I am so happy to hear you were able to hear from Zack and that he is getting your letters.
Hi Tammy,
It's so good to see them isn't it? Even just that one picture just made my day. No letters yet. I'll just have to see if one comes. If he's tired and grouchy he won't be in the mood to write. LOL.
I was reading some on your profile. I'm so happy that Zack healed quickly. What a way to start out!
I just found earlier today that they are going to be posting Div 258 photo to the recruit command FB page. Did you know about this? I was so excited to find out! If you didn't already know about it, there was a trivia question posted and the correct answer gets to request which Division photo they want posted with their Recriut front and center! https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand The link, if you need it. I'm sorry if you already know all this, I am just so exited and if someone left me a message without the details I would be pulling my hair out! :)
Sorry, my name is Wendy.
Hi Tammy! So nice to meet you. Have you received a form letter or any other mai from your son? My son isn't a big letter writter so I am not sure what to expect.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
