OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The next two weeks can not pass by fast enough. I am counting days now and we are down to 18 1/2 until I see my baby. He sounded great when we had the last call, talking and nervous about the live rounds with the guns. We have a gun, but he has never even held one except for a BB Pistol. He must have done okay as we did not get a call that he didn't. Just the unknown of what to expect... I was a volunteer firefighter for 10 years, so I told him if his mom could master the different types of fire and different methods of fighting it, he could get that done. My dad called today to see if I had heard anything this week and I promised to call him the minute I do. His heart rate is staying between 30 and 34 beats per minute, have no idea how he keeps going. He thinks the sun rises and sets in my youngest. My step mother turns 85 tomorrow and they had her a surprise party today, wish I could have been there but live 6 hours away. Sometimes I have to stop and think about what I am doing, because I am so used to having a kid in the house. I only had 1 load of laundry a week since he left and our grocery bill is like a third of what it was with him here.I have just about finished with his room. Went through all his clothes, left a few pieces hanging in the closet and saved some of his t shirts etc and put them in his dresser, the rest I took to my sister for her grand sons.I ask my son what he wanted as far as a gift for PIR and he said just want to see your face Momma when I scan the crowd. Teasing I told him I would wear my headband with the glittery stars and he answered at least he would be able to find me more easily. lol! My sweet bitty boy has grown up a lot in the past few weeks and I am so excited to see where he goes and what he does with his future.I feel like I did 20 years ago when it was close to time for him to be born. The anticipation is killing me, and I cannot wait to see that sweet face. He will turn 20 on the 15th of July and will be away from me for the first time on his birthday, so many memories and so many more to be made. We are driving up and will leave during the night on Tuesday to make the 15 hour  drive to the Great Lakes. Hopefully will get his call before we get to far and maybe before we leave... There are only 5 divisions so maybe they will all get done early. I cannot thank all you ladies on this forum enough for the love and support I have felt from here. Our DEP journey has been a bumpy one, but praying for smooth sailing for the rest of his Naval career. I am saying my prayers not just for mine, but for yours too. Many blessings to all!
