Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Hi Dory, they are referring to the blue/gold handmade ribbons that some parents order on line. Look on Etsy. That's where I ordered mine when our son graduated. I believe ours said our sailor's last name and his division number. You can also make your own if you're in a crafty mood!!!

I made my own ribbons - they weren't difficult to make. Bought the supplies at Hobby Lobby (ribbon, stickers, hot glue & bar pins for the back)

Ribbons are just an option. Most families make or purchase ribbons with their sailors name and division on them. I made mine and with all the excitement going on forgot to put mine on for PIR. So its not mandatory but looks nice.

Ribbons are a personal choice in my opinion. You can make them with your SR name/div number on them. Some order them. But basically you wear them to PIR to show support for your SR. To me, if I'm there, that shows him more support than any ribbon ever could. But that's just me. Here is an example.

You can order ribbons with your Sailors name and div/ship numbers on them for people attending PIR to wear or you can make them yourselves. I attached a pictue of the ribbons for my sailor's PIR that was last week

Hi Dory....they are not required but it is a nice show of pride and support for your sailor. They can really be any kind I suppose but most commonly they are "awareness type" ribbons with your sailor's name, division # or proud mom, etc. You can go to pirgifts.com or uniquememorymakers.com. They are two different styles, both beautiful just depends on your taste. Some people even make their own. Hope this helps.

Those are decorations for hotel room doors again you can make your own or order one. Some people do banners some wreaths. I made mine. It was an anchor. I have attached a photo of my door hanger anchor

PIRGifts.com is a great place to purchase inexpensive and very nice looking ribbons. This is a great option if you are not creative/crafty and proceeds continue to fund Navydep.com. It is nice to support those who support us and our loved ones while they prepare to/and serve. You can also find him providing information in various FB sites. This has all been very helpful. I know many who have made theirs and have done beautiful commemorative ribbons as well. You will also hear about Posters for the door of your hotel room during your graduation stay.

MaryJul. You can put them up at pretty much any hotel. Just make sure you use something like an over the door hanger or command hook so the door is not damaged. We even stayed about 45 minutes from RTC because of a mistake made at the time we booked our reservation and we were the only one staying there that had a Sailor graduating and it was till nove for our Sailor to see it when he came back to the hotel with us.
