For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Son is in the hospital for stress
I just got a call from the Federal Hospital in Chicago. Apparently my son is having some stress issues. I am so worried about him. Does anyone have any information about what to expect? Will he still be able to continue boot camp? I know he really wanted to be a sailor, but in the past he has had some anger issues. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it seems like he can't cope. The doctor couldn't tell me munch due to doctor patient confidentiality. Any encouraging words? I feel so helpless.

It all depends on your son and how serious his situation is. Some have been able to go back to their division and go on to be Sailors. Others have been sent to SEPS. Keep me updated on his situation.

Will keep you and your son in my thoughts. It's hard to be so far away at times like this, but remember that your son carries with him all the love and support you have (and always will) give him. I hope you get more information soon.

He just left for boot camp on January 18. That doesn't sound too encouraging if he is already falling apart, does it? He must be so upset with himself. I only wish I could give him some encouraging words.

My son left on the 24th. This is my fear. Buthe I'm a worry wart! Will they not let you speak to him?

No. They said he will probably be able to call me when he gets back to his unit. Does anyone know what that means? Is the "unit" his division?

Yes, if he returns to his division, then "unit" means division. Some recruits who have returned to their division have been able to call from the hospital before returning to the RTC or upon their return to the division in a monitored call and some have not called until the next scheduled call. "No news is good news!" in that as long as you do not receive a call, then you know that he is expected to remain in GL.
