My SR just called me in tears that they have him in SEPS and he is being medically discharged due to his nose. It needs to be broken and reset to fix the deviated septum. I have spoken to his recruiter and he is researching but told me to reach out here as well. Does anyone have info on who I can contact there at GL? My son has never had to make legal and medical decisions before and he is scared to make the wrong one. Our call was only 2 minutes. Can anyone help me?

I wish I had some info for you. Sending prayers!

Hopefully another mom can help with contact info. I just want to say that I will be praying for you and your son as you go through this detour in plan.

Sending prayers and positive thoughts!

My son was sent to SEP on Tuesday after medical found he had taken migraine medicine almost 2 years ago. He is a military dependent and they saw this through ALTHA. We are working on a waiver now. Please join the Facebook page Ship 5 SEPS. Lots of parents and people with great information and phone numbers. They will respond immediately. I would not have know the steps to help him work on the waiver without their knowledge. Good luck!

Calisunflower, I left ifo on your My Page.

My son separated because of his eye sight.  He said he will go to legal tomorrow and they will ask him why he is separating.  He will go to legal several times.  He will be able to call you much more frequently once he gets settled and you will be able to advise him.  FYI  he will be very very bored while he is there.  Not much for them to do all day.  It does take a long time for them to process him out. Will be there most likely at least a month.  my son got out in three weeks and they said that was the exception not the rule. We  were not able to contact him directly. My son did get a re - enlist code for when he goes back.

QueenKnight, I left info on your My Page concerning SEPS.

QuuenKnight try the GL facebook page. I have had success there once when I couldnt reach my son. My son is also in GL completeing A school.

Just talked to my son. He said he is being discharged for adjustment disorder...so..that's a thing? What do they expect...18, first time away from home...man where was adjustment disorder when I left for college? Lol. He will be able to reenlist. I asked him if he wanted to appeal it now, he said...'Mom..some of these guys have been here 100 days cause they apealed.' He said he wants to come home and better prepare himself. So, I respect that. He's not giving up or defeated, he is planning. I'm encouraged by that. And whoevers son allowed him to use his phone card to calll....thank you!!!!!

QueenKnight, he will be in my thoughts and prayers. Adjustment disorder? what does that mean - that he was having a hard time being away from home for the first time? It sounds like he is much better than last night. The great thing is that he will be home soon and you can all work this through as a family. Much love to you

My son is also being discharged, he blew out his knee and he needs surgery. He is so disappointed because ever since he was a little boy he wanted to follow his father footstep to be a Navy Sailor. I have many concerns. Now what is plan B? Does the Navy help pay for his surgery ? Does he get any help in going back to school?

Mama bear, hopefully he is thinking of his Plan B while he is waiting to go home. Remember there is a whole alphabet if needed. He will be given the info on any benefits that he is eligible for. No, the Navy will not help pay for his surgery and he will not qualify for any help from the Navy with schooling.
