My son left for boot camp on 03/27!  I received his box on the 29th, now I'm waiting his address to write!

My son left same day , got his box, waiting for address too.

Thanks for responding. How are you doing?   I'm trying to get through a day without crying. It doesn't matter how busy I get, he is everywhere and I miss him so much.

First week of empty nest boot camp

First week over , the dog is getting fat.My husband and I jump up when the phone rings, yes we are a bit on edge, good time to have an estate sale and dive into projects. We are anxiously awaiting that coveted card that has the key to communication with our boy ... his address.Yes, we snicker every now and then when we picture him unable to "snap face, chatbook, insta-what" . It's old school retool the synapsis in the brain and tweak up the body . He will be better than amazing on Graduation day.We miss him like the first day he went to kindergarten. The feeling never changes, no matter their age.On to week two.

I read that once you have a child, it's like your heart beating outside of your body for the rest of your life!  My son is pretty young, and we are so very proud of him, but to me, he'll always be my baby.  We have another son about to be a freshman next year, who keeps us very busy with his sporting events, and I've been told that will keep me sane.  I think what broke me more than anything was when I received his phone!  That phone is an extension of his arm!  Like you mentioned all the snap face, chatbook, insta-what(ha)  thanks for making me smile Voxtrot

So true, all... Ours is an only child. So, that's why the dog is getting fat, she gets all teh attention now!
It's like they've been abducted by UFO's ha!
I know that the NAVY will shape these fine young men and women , I think of it this way, they have a calling and an incredible sense of duty or they wouldn't be walking into this challenge.

There should be required boot camp in the high schools, take away the phones, let them find their true selves.

Our boy is Naval Reserves and heading back to college, he's a bit older, hopefully wiser ;)

We miss him every moment and if I may, we moms feel it in a different way, we knew them in the womb and have spent the rest of our days in protection of them...it's hard to turn it off. Now we assume Head Cheerleader in Charge !
The phone call was a surprise yet heartbreaking. He had a cold and sounded tired. As much as I miss him I just tell myself that he is doing something that will change his life forever for the better. Hang in there. My son is ship 03 and division 159

We are halfway there to PIR now, so exciting! The next few weeks are more intense, but they have been preparing them and training them for BS and keeping them fit. I can't wait to see them marching uniform with the look of accomplishment on their faces! We have missed our SR, but have kept intentionally VERY BUSY to get through this!

Hi Alissa, see above. Hanging in there .
