Graduation in May and then not even two weeks he is leaving.  The information that has been provided on this site has been helpful.  Things to do the last month so we are prepared.  Emotions are running with graduation and all to do with that milestone; and then as a moves on to his next adventure.

Look forward to meeting others as we go through this journey together.

God bless all!

Hello! I'm new to Navy For Moms so I am soaking up all of the great information!
My son is leaving June 1st as well! By any chance is your son in the special Cardinal Division?

Yes he is in the Cardinal Navy Company leaving June 1st.  He will also have to report on  May 29th and be there until he leaves.  So glad we can connect!  I was feeling alone.

Oh me too! Thank you so much for the reply! I am so glad I found you! It sounds like our sons will be going on this journey together! I'm having such mixed emotions. I am so very proud of him and so excited to see him spread his wings, but at the same time...I am scared to death for him and really having a hard time with losing my son to this big ole' world!
My son is MAA rating and will go to San Antonio for A school What is your son going to do?

My son's is AECF rating and will be staying in GL for A schooling.

Look forward to hopefully meeting you in a couple weeks.  Sure we won't be hard to miss with the boxes of Kleenex!

Today is last day of high school so there are so many mixed emotions today that are playing on me.

I don't if I can ask where you are located or approximate area.  Curious if our kids know one another already.

I'm looking forward to meeting you as well. You are so right about the Kleenex. I am dreading that day. So proud but yet an ache that only a Mom would feel.
We live about 45 minutes from downtown STL on the Illinois side. He goes to DEP meetings in Collinsville but we live further north that that. My son took a year off after high school before going in. I can't imagine what you are going through with him going in two weeks after graduation!
It's so hard having to put on the strong Mom face for the boys. The last thing I want is for him to worry about me.
So, what area are you from? Are we near each other at all? I am also curious as to if they know each other.

Good morning!

We actually live south of St. Louis; and my sons DEP program is in Festus, MO.  We will definitely need to look for each other that day.  Warning I am a hugger!!  LOL

Have to admit, Friday was my son's last day of high school and I had a melt down.  Tried so hard not to, but started really counting the days until he leaves and while I am treasuring every moment with him, I am going to miss him dearly.  I agree that last thing I want is for him to worry about me as well, I keep telling him, Mom will cry (which is a given) but that doesn't mean I don't want you to spread your wings and fly.  Mom will be okay, just going to miss you and so happy for you that you decided a long time ago what you wanted and working to achieve that goal and see the world.  He understands and is pretty patient with momma.

Hang in there NavyMomma!  You will have me to go through with this and we can stick together.  We are not that far apart that we can get together if you like!  Us momma's gotta stick together.

Well I will be a mess come Thursday. Dropping him off today not knowing when he would be coming back was tough enough. Held up very well for him but pulling away...many tears shed already but I am so proud of him!

This has been a week.  Between graduation and going away, then recruiter taking him to the hotel from the party.  This has all been an emotional week.  Luckily I was able to spend time with our future Tuesday and Wednesday evening as they were preparing for Cardinal Navy Company.  These guys were able to meet each other and begin forming their bond/brotherhood for boot camp.  Not all recruits get to experience this prior to boot camp.  They met their RDC and some training began with excitement.  Wednesday they were nervous of what lies ahead.  Today will be the hardest, as they get sworn in (a couple times) today.  Then leave from the game to boot camp.  Then the waiting will begin for the call to say he has arrived.  My heart has so many emotions right now.  One day at a time and know he has this and can't wait for PIR to see him again.    This momma is so PROUD of her future sailor!!!
