I have been enjoying reading the posts so far. My son will be in BootCamp in July too! Looking forward to getting to know some of you better.

My son will also leave in July. Bittersweet because he is my youngest, and I just found out that his older brother is also moving out of state the same month. I'm going to be one lonely mama and drive my husband crazy!!!
Hello Fellow Moms!! My son leaves July 20th! Anyone else's kiddo leave that day? I have started getting very emotional when I think of him leaving. I have been there every step of the way during his Navy experience so far and I've been fine, but now I've started getting sad. I'm probably driving my son nuts! Any advice or similar experiences?
Mine leaves July 25th. We are currently planning his graduation/going away party and I'm starting to feel extremely sad. I try my best not to show how difficult this on me in front of him. I do a lot of crying behind doors, at work, in car, pretty much everyone. I think it's natural as you are so proud and excited for them but sad they are leaving.
Where do you live if you don't mind my asking? We live in Tucson, AZ and I understand that I can go with him the night before he leaves and possibly to the gate the next day. Is that true?
I'm not sure. We're in St. Louis. Our recruiter will pick him up on the 24th for MEPS, then after he's processed in we can go have dinner with him but he'd have to be back by 9:00 pm. As far as the day he leaves, I'm still trying to figure out if we can wait with him or if after swearing in, he goes on his own with the rest of the recruits.
You can have dinner with him the night before, but you cannot go to his hotel room and he will have a curfew of when he must be in his room. You will be able to see him swear in at MEPS and you may be able to go to the airport to see him depart if he wants that to happen (he will be bused there).
My son leaves July 25th too. He signed up last August and I can't believe the day is getting close. He graduates from High School June 23.
mareteach, I left info for you on your My Page.
my son left that day as well.
My son also leaves on 7/17. I do ALOT of crying and worrying.
My son is supposed to leave July 12, he was contacted today and asked if he wants to bump leaving to end of June. He graduates high school beginning of June. Feels like a huge decision to make tonight, a couple week difference shouldn't feel this huge.
