OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I don't recall which mom suggested this but it is amazing. Thank you!

It's a free service offered online from USPS. You simply register and each day it scans and sends images of that days regular mail to your email address. Mon-Friday mine hits at about 8:35 am. Today I received it at 9:35 am.

No more "mail truck stalking"! LOL

Be forewarned, mine did take a few days to kick in.

I used twice so far.  Just found out with every letter you send, it also supplies your SR with a stamped envelope and paper.   Makes it real easy for them to write back!

@butterball, don't let the turkey's get you down.  Keep in mind you asked a guy and let's face it, not all guys are in touch with their feelings, so they don't know what being a mom is all about.  And there's nothing wrong with caring and wanting to hear from our sailors. The service is a big step.    It is emotional and there's nothing wrong with that.

On Friday I went into Philadelphia and saw the orchestra play.  As part of their 4th of July celebration they did a tribute to service men and women, playing songs specific to each of the branches of service.  They asked anyone who is serving or had served to stand when they heard their song. People clapped for everyone who stood during their song. When it got to Anchors Away, I just started crying.  And I'm proud of it!!!  It was all the love and pride just spilling over.

Informed delivery is awesome. I'm surprised I can get it in my small town of 13,000. Mine kicked in right away.

Just signed up for this, not step I think might be sand box.

DragonMom, I was going to sign up also, until I saw this post by an administrator. Made a lot of sense to me, not going to sign up now.      (copied and pasted for fyi)                                                                   Chris Moren
Chris Moren Admin here. Also an IT Operations Director who deals with IT security on a daily basis. Sandboxx is owned and operated by a former Marine. I have yet to learn anything about his software development team, his security platform, where the app and data is hosted from, etc. Until I get that info, at this time I cannot endorse the use of this app. You're providing the personal information and duty station for yourself and your Sailors to a 3rd party. Once they have it you've lost control of it. Additionally, for what they charge for their basic package you can write and mail 10+ letters on your own.

It doesn't get there any faster.

Save the $$ - write and mail your own letters.

Thank you for letting me know. I had not yet looked at the app.

You are very welcome, just trying to keep our children safe and not violate opsec or persec rules.

Im just curious why the recruiters recommended this app if it violates opsec and persec?

I am using Sanboxx...my sons recruiter recommended too and we set it up before my son left for BC

Just a note it is not always accurate. If the mail os sorted wrong you could still get mail. Happened yesterday.
